I'm still a book behind. I just read book 2 last week. I found it very similar to book 1, but with less likable characters. Will start book 3 today to try to catch up but someone please tell me this series improves...

Uh... not really?... I don't think so, anyway... you're either in the mood for them, or you aren't... Nalini Singh definitely has a formula...
I read this review, years ago, that really took me out of the stories, when I continued reading... it was when a reviewer pointed out how often Singh mentions clothing/colors/smells... it's like every other paragraph... and then you just start noticing/counting, instead of reading/enjoying...
I actually really struggled with this year's book... took me like 2 months to finish... I powered through on audio, eventually, just to get it over with, and am kinda wary about the next one, even tho it's returning to Snowdancer territory...

Is the writing still annoying? Yes. Is it still corny as hell? Of course. But it's better than the rubbish that was book 2. So far anyway.

I agree... I oversimplified in my response... I actually dislike books 6-8 the most, I think...

I started this last night, about 45 pages in. I don't remember much of this one to be honest but so far I'm not a huge fan of the way Clay is treating Tally. He has a right to be pissed but she was a scared child and he's judging her on decisions she made when she was young and vulnerable and that's not okay.

I re-read this book once... I remember liking it better from about 1/3 of the way through, once the early setup is out of the way, and the traditional mystery/problem-solving found in each book is underway...
My favorites in this series tend to be novellas and SnowDancer couples... and I really loved #12 or 13, Heart of Obsidian, the climax of the initial story arc...

My favourite books are probably Faith, Judd, Sienna and Kaleb's. I also really love Dev and Katya's book, although they're not really big players in the grand scheme of things, I really adored that one and I've read it quite a few times.

Sorry... the ones that focus less on Psy & Changelings are the ones I don't like as much... Dev, the one after with the cop...
I like this one except for the beginning, I like Mercy's book, Sieena's book, Kaleb's book, the short story about the teacher with a limp (I like romances with injured/deaf/blind/etc characters in general), the other short story with the quietly strong submissive & the lieutenant, and Drew's book... clearly I prefer the Changelings... I like most of the rest of the series, too, but I've re-read most of the Changeling books...

I think it really depends what I'm in the mood but the psy/ changeling relationships are excellent. I remember thinking what a cool idea it was when i first read them. There's these two races with completely different strengths and values and somehow it just works.

The world is pretty dysfunctional... but I guess by the time it's functional again, the series will be over...

I'm nearly finished (about 88%) and I'm liking it much better but it's still not my favourite of the series, definitely the weaker of the four books so far I think. I'm glad (view spoiler)
I finished this book this morning. It's not my favourite in the series but it was a really fun read. I'm not a huge fan of Talin but I liked the cameo's from other books.
Just started and am already lost. I'm still on chapter one but it reads like it's picking up from somewhere else. But I read the other 3 books less than a month ago so I know it's not picking up from anything that happened there. I'll continue and hope I figure out what's going on.
Ha! I feel like I'm way more forgiving to book men than I ever would be to real life men. If my husband tried 1/8th the stuff these book alpha males pull I'd be hitting him with a frying pan. 😂😂
This book is so far my least favorite of the bunch. It's like the author is trying too hard. It doesn't even make sense. Talon (sorry, it's audio so not sure about the spellings) keeps saying how she's afraid of Clay, and also how she's not afraid of his cuz he'd never hurt her. Yeah, I get it. He's supposed to be the dangerous jaguar with a heart of gold *insert eye roll here*. Even their history makes no sense. It doesn't sound like they knew each other for very long before they got separated. And they haven't seen each other in like what, 15 years? That's an awful lot of assuming their doing in regards to how much they actually know each other. This book just feels hyper exaggerated.
Also, Clay is such an asshole. I let book boyfriends get away with a lot of shit I wouldn't in real life, but he's traumatizing someone who's already traumatized and brooding over decisions she made as an 8 year old child. Gah! Grow up man! Grow a set and get over it.
I'm about 40% through this one and I had to put it down. I'm debating leaving it as a dnf and just moving on to book 5, but I'm not sure if I'll miss anything that might be important later in the series. Either way it's moved down my priority list.
There are a few big things that are quite important to the overall series plot. I'll put them in a spoiler tag below in case you want to know:Plot spoilers: (view spoiler)
I'll hold off reading the spoiler for now. I'll read it if I truly just can't bring myself to finish this one.
70% - (view spoiler)I will keep reading the series but if is too boring like this one I'll probably abandoning or paused it.
@Circe I'm sorry you're not enjoying it. It's one of my least liked books in the series. The others are so much better.
Circe wrote: "70% - So far this is the last book I liked about this series...."Agree. I didn't finish this one. I hated the protagonists and the whole relationship.

I feel like they brought out the worst in each other. It wasn't a healthy relationship, though I'm glad they (view spoiler)
