Goodreads Secret Santa discussion

Hi guys!

it's nearing that time of the year again! In a couple weeks I will be putting up the general info for the Secret Santa, and in about a month sign up for the 2018 secret santa will begin!

I can't believe this is already my 4th time hosting this event! I hope you guys are all ready! Welcome to any new members who are planning to participate, and everyone feel free to invite your friends :)

This thread had the general info/rules from last year's Secret Santa and for the most part very little will be changing.

I'm new to this, but familiar with swaps in general, so if you are still looking for help give me a shout! :)

I'm also new to this - I was invited by a goodreads-friend. I'm curious to see how it'll work out and who I'm going to be santa-ing what book to.

Would it be allowed to give my work address instead of my home one because I'll be more likely to receive it there without wandering to the post office and waiting in line for half a day?

yep that's fine! The address can be any you have access to :)

I guess this wasn't clear.... but secret santa hasn't started yet. I haven't even posted the info for this year.

I will be posting the information in November, and sign up starts mid november.

No, no arcs are allowed. I don’t allow people to ship books in person as it gets too complicated. I prefer everything be done online.

Hey, I just joined this group because I was invited by a friend of mine, and it actually sounds amazing. I am superexcited for this and glad to get to know you all! :)

I am absolutely stoked about this! Have a done a few secret santa's previously - but an actual group dedicated to it? This is sweet! :D
Will go over and read the rules from the previous year, but I am absolutely in for the ride! :D

I'm thinking tentative sign up with either be on November 9th or 10th. Gives about 3 weeks for the sign up. And rules will be posted the day of.

I'm eager to see what books are on people's lists this year.

I was thinking of using the Book section of the group to recommend some of my personal favourites/best books of the year, to give some people book ideas. Thoughts?

That could be a good idea. Also if you know of books that where requested by multiple people in past years as well?

Yeah Nikki I thought of that as well! But then I think it might be better to feature some less known, less heard of, but amazing books. So I think it's going to be more of an unknown/underappreciated recommendation!

I will be organizing them into genres, and having a special shelf called "mel's favourites" as well.
