Dee, I don't remember where you are located.

That's like... stunning to me. I can hardly remember a time when the All Blacks weren't completely dominant. But they'll return to greatness. They always have.

Yep. Rugby was where it was at for me when I was at uni. Some of the guys... I mean, I do actually love the game (which is extraordinary in its brutality and its subtlety), but I won't pretend that that was the reason I started watching in the first place. That would be such a lie.
But I totally agree, Kelly, those were some good days...

Indeed, the boys. Some of the very best things in life...
I spent two years at junior college and then two years at the University of California. Cal was actually a great school for rugby because it's the powerhouse program in the country.
I'm from Sacramento (still live there), so while technically I went away for school, it was close enough to home so as to remain familiar. Keeping the parents in view helped to insure that I paid some attention to academics, despite myself.

You crack me up. Based on what I have seen you could probably have taught much of your coursework!

For the October one I just chose it. But we made nominations for November and there is a poll up right now. I will close it at midnight on the 21st and we will read the top 2 vote getters. Starting on the 1st of November I will open up Nominations for December.

That’s wonderful! Is this the first grandchild?
Dee ~ Chillin’ Out wrote: "No, my 11th, but because she is my youngest and the baby of the family, it is so awesome!"
11 - Wow - I have 3 grandchildren. They are step-grandchildren. I never had a child of my own.

The youngest of the youngest - how awesome is that? Do you know whether boy or girl? We will want to see pix from you later on!

I am leaving that to you. I am starting fresh from October 1st as it is a challenge I just gave myself. But Celia went back through her shelves and found which ones she had read and wanted to count. Either way you are reading the world so I say its good. :)

I have family and a long-time friend who live in Sac and I was born in Torrance. I still haven't forgiven my parent's for moving me to Ohio!! LOL
I sure do miss Cali.

You and your family will be in my thoughts as you go through all this with your husband! WOW! May peace be with you!
And congrats on a new grandbaby!! SO exciting!!

Oh Dee I am so sorry! I know that illness is often worse for the family than it is for the person who is sick. Please know that you are in my thoughts. I wish you were local so I could do something more.

So, off of books and real life and onto movies. Today I went by myself to see A Star is Born because none of my family wanted to go with me. I loved it. Has anyone else seen it. Or, have you seen something else that you want to recommend?
Candace wrote: "Bohemian Rhapsody was wonderful! Highly recommend it!"
That one is next on my list... maybe this weekend! How are you? I have missed chatting with you.

Hi Kelly - doing well, thank you. I'm going to see this movie again next week. It's just that good! You must be feeling better; you are right on top of things managing this new group, plus all the reading you manage to do! You're amazing!

Wow Candace! I know you were worried. I hope you feel better now that it is behind you. And I hope you are right that you will feel more energy now.

Thanks, Dee!

I wasn’t expecting the stents, but glad my doc is so thorough! She didn’t do the original bypasses. I was told then that there were four clogged arteries, and the surgeon bypassed three, leaving the fourth for a possible future stent. So that’s what my current cardio wanted to get a look at. Apparently that fourth artery was okay, but I needed two stents for other artery(ies). Nor very clear about it until I see her on Tuesday. I was pretty zonked yesterday. 🤪

I just saw this question and hopefully I can help. There might be an easier way, but this is how I do it and it usually takes me less than a minute.
When I get ready to post a comment pointing toward my review, I open up a tab to post the comment. I open up a second tab that has my review. (I open a second tab because terrible experience has shown me that you can't leave a comment page open, go to another page and come back -- the comment I was working on disappeared once I visited another page.)
Instructions for Tab #2 (Review tab): To get to the page with the review:
1) Click on the book you reviewed;
2) Scroll down the page until you see "My Activity";
3) Right below your Review, click on the blue letters "see review". This will take you to your Review page which has the URL for that page. You will use the URL address in Tab #1 (Comment).
Instructions for Tab #1 (Comment tab):
When you get ready to add your review,
1) Click on (some html is ok) above the comment box;
2) Where it says "link:", left click on the coding to select it, then right click to copy it.
3) Paste the code in your comment
4) Delete the following code: http://www.goodreads.com.
5) Go to Tab #2 (your Review page), and left click on the URL address to select all of the address, then right click to copy it.
6) Go back to Tab #1 and left click what you just copied to paste and replace the goodreads address you just deleted (you will be adding your review URL between the two quotation marks "").
7) Delete the text my link here and replace it by typing here (or any other text you want to use).
That's it. Once you do it a couple of times, it goes really fast. My example is here.
I hope this helps. If anyone has any questions, I'll be glad to help further - if I can. :)

This has been a very busy time for me, and I've been working hard to finish my Bingo Challenge this year (nearly through with my last two books, Don Quixote and My Brilliant Career). I've enjoyed both of them, but this experience has made me realize that I need to scale back and just enjoy reading at my own pace again. Hopefully, in 2019, I will still challenge myself but not let reading become a chore.
I have read a couple of books toward our Reading the World (South Africa and Australia), and I will post them in my personal thread. I would highly recommend both of them.
Missing you guys! Hoping you're all enjoying the Christmas season.

Thanks for your good wishes, Shirley! And glad to see you back! I agree reading shouldn't become a chore. I've gotten back to my regular schedule, reading one book at a time (usually) and not over-committing myself to keep up with the "big kids" who can apparently either inhale books or just read them by some kind of osmosis. :-) LOL! I really admire people who are able to read so voraciously, because I wish I could read like that, too!

You cracked me up, Candace ("either inhale books or just read them by some kind of osmosis")... that's exactly how I feel. I just cannot read that fast. I've taken several speed reading tests online to see if I could find just one test to give me the results I wanted (haha). Alas, no, I'm just a poky turtle (about 185 wpm), but at least my retention rate is 85% -- so at least, I'm good at something. LOL But I do plan (hope) on slowing down next year and just enjoy each book more and worry less about completing my challenges. But it is hard when there are so many books I want to read. I guess that's a good dilemma! :)
