Well I haven't watched the movie yet, I believe it's not out yet, but I did watch the trailers and ever since Harry Potter I do have a thing for checking eye colors. Mostly they are no use but in the case of The Giver and Jonas, how on earth could they make him with brown eyes. I believe that is an important point of the book, the receivers having "pale" eyes different from the others. The Giver, Jonas, Gabriel..Also I think Asher is a pilot :/
I saw the movie last night and this is one of the rare instances when I preferred a movie to a book. I've read this trilogy and was never that impressed with it. The entire premise never made that much sense to me, but visually...it did.Has anyone else seen the movie?

Yes, and unlike you this is the first time I resented the movie.
For me the book is much scarier because there is no bad figures. We are self-policing and not even realizing it. Turning the elders into villains was a let-down although expected.
The happy-ending was an equal let-down as that is not how I understood the book.
What is more funny is that I knew to expect the movie to be completely different and yet I was still angry with the major IMO changes.

The movie didn't make me feel anything. The book made me cry. Seriously, that book got to me for some reason. So yea, I much preferred the book.

I have to agree with you, I think that is why I was angry with it, because I didn't feel anything else. And that reminds me of the elephant scene which was another failure of attempt to make us feel.
