Hi Christopher!

message 30: by B.G. (new)

B.G. Thomas | 13 comments Jack--if you don't mind--I am going to go ahead and say something about how "A Taste of Honey" came to be. I am what would be known in the gay community as a bear. And the one thing I really noticed in the MM genre is that most of the stories are about young gorgeous men with FANTASTIC bodies and huge ... ah ... pectorals and washboard abs.

I felt...well...certainly not represented. I felt almost as if there were a misogynistic attitude to men who weren't gym gods. And I was like, hey, we all need love! As a matter of fact, that is how I found the bear community in the first place. Not only did they "embrace" all body types (so to speak) but the guys who were at bear events LOVED men like me! Suddenly I was a hot commodity for the first time in my life.

And as I got to be more and more involved with the MM genre, I more and more wanted to see if there were people open to stories about men like me.

So I pitched the idea to Elizabeth North at Dreamspinner Press and she liked the idea!

And then to my excitement, she and the wondrous Anne Regan let me actually be a part of the anthology by being co-editor.

It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my writing life and I can't WAIT to see how it's received!

J. Coatsworth (jscottc) | 31 comments Hey guys - Tara and Hayley put this one together. :) Checking in from California!

message 41: by Samuel (new)

Samuel Scott | 22 comments I agree that bears need more representation. I have a very conflicted relation to them myself, probably because I am one but am attratced to different types of guys. A lot of people figure I must be attracted to bears but I'm an "opposites attracts" kind of guy. So I wanted to explore that in my story, which features a guy who imagines he's unattractive (and so, so some extent, becomes so).

message 42: by J. (new)

J. Coatsworth (jscottc) | 31 comments BG - we're so glad you got this anthology started - it was so fun to write for!

Stella ╰☆╮╰☆╮ (stellamatta) | 178 comments Can you tell us a little more about your stories?

message 44: by John (new)

John Genest | 48 comments Thanks to B.g., our Fearless (but not furless) Leader! I was inspired to write a story for the anthology based on your call for submission received in Facebook.

Jack Byrne (jackbyrne) | 118 comments Oops! Well, thanks Tara and Hayley!

message 46: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Moss (kitmoss) | 35 comments B.G., that is fantastic about how the anthology c ame to be... I had my story well underway and was delighted to find a home for it. I always write historical fiction.. 1949 is the latest I have done.

I totally understand what you're saying. It's like reading books about women with perfect hair, high heels and amazing makeup while they're running after their kids or cleaning their house...not real!!

Can't wait to read A taste of Honey!!

Congrats to all of you;)

message 49: by B.G. (new)

B.G. Thomas | 13 comments Jack--you really took me to a place that I don't know and I loved watching the two men become more and more involved with each other. I loved watching Bryce get Rob's attention--and it was very very sexy as well

message 50: by Myfanwy (new)

Myfanwy Browne (MyfanwyBrowne) | 4 comments can i ask, do you feel that the cover gets to grips with presenting all that a bear has to offer? it came across a bit as 2 tremulous blokes with hairy chins to me rather than an embodiment of the full blown masculinity and human passion and .. let's face it, emotional warmth, a bear relationship can bring.
