I've read this book about 4 years ago, it is about the live of a serial killer and from his perspective. About who he killed and how. The cover was black with blood on it. I do not know who wrote it or what it was called. Thank you!

Link to the Omnibus
Link to the first book, of which there are more covers, some with blood (although most only little). This was also my first thought.
The newer covers are often with an image of Michael C. Hall, the MC of the TV-series (which, imho was way better than the later books in the series, but that is just my opinion, and the first book was really good and unique).
Lobstergirl wrote: "Where and when is it set?"It was in the modern days, and i don't know where, I think Europe or America, probably America
Wilma wrote: "Is it Darkly Dreaming Dexter, first book of the Dexter series?"It isn't. When I read it, there was no sequal.
No blood on the covers as far as I know, but other novels told (at least in part) from the perspective of a serial killer are Fade to Black by Ron Renauld (actually just a novelization of the movie) and Red Dragon by Thomas Harris.
