Janice, just want to confirm this one is ok here. There is a police officer that is trying to solve the kidnapping in the past parts of the book. Those chapters are mostly, I think, from her father's perspective along with the police officer and other members of her family and community. The present parts of the book are from the kidnapped girl's perspective. So, there are a few chapters that are from the police officer's perspective. Since the book is close to 50/50 past/present, I'd guess maybe 20% could be from the police officer.

I really enjoyed it. She did get a little political towards the end, but mostly it was just about her and her relationship with Barack, her goals with work and her children. She spoke about being in the White House, what that felt like for her and what she hoped to accomplish. I thought it was really interesting and I found her very relatable. I'm glad I read it.
