Nicolas I've been meaning to read this book for years now. I had gone in with high expectations and i can say it didn't disappoint, though it was different to what I was expecting.
This story follows around a boy named Charlie who is about to be a freshman in high school. As his friend had killed himself a few months ago he was all alone going into this new school year. Being afraid he decided to write letters to this person who is unknown to us. We manage to experience his life through high school along with all the drama that goes with it.
This read has been a quick yet enjoyable read. There was no difficulty in it but it did open my eyes to the reality of a teenagers life. It talked about all kinds of problems such as suicide, rape, substance abuse and so many more problems teenagers have to face. What really stopped me from giving it a five stars though, was that it was very brief; it never went into detail about the problems, one page and then you forgot about it.

Meli (melihooker) | 4165 comments This is one of those books where I feel like I missed my window and I won't enjoy it as much if I would've tried to read it many years ago. I am still intrigued by it and wanna read it, but I don't know if I ever will. Although, it is short enough to not take up too much time to read.

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments I really loved this in high school, and reread a few years back. i think it is a "more that meets the eye" kind of book with the heavier topics- I also gave it 4 stars.

Meli- you could easily breeze through this in a day or two.

Magdalena | 414 comments Great review! I remember having similar feelings when I read it. It wasn't what I expected but I really liked it and it was definitely an eye opener. I also agree it didn't go into as much detail as it could have and thought it was a little short but that didn't end up mattering to me.

I didn't have goodreads at the time so I didn't rate it but I probably would have given it 4 stars as well.

The movie is also fairly good although they cut out some of the heavier topics.
