Ch 2 – 1977 – CeeCee’s mother was 16 when she got pregnant. She hoped for better for her daughter.
CeeCee was 16 and working as a waitress. Tim was 22 and a grad student at UNC. He would come in to her café and sit in her section daily. She was almost in love with him but tried not to show it. He told her he worked too hard, she said she needed the money. He finally asked her out and left her a huge tip for finding money and returning it instead of keeping it.
Ch 3 – Tim and CeeCee went out to the movies (Annie Hall) and then to get something to eat at a diner. Tim seemed to know everyone. She talked about her life, her mother dying of breast cancer in her late twenties and how she was shifted around from foster home to foster home. She graduated from high school at 16 and has been on her own since. She hopes to go to college but didn’t get the scholarship so that would have to wait. Tim is majoring in Social Work and wants to reform the prison system.
I am intrigued. Trying to figure out if CeeCee is also known as Genevieve.At least Tim treats her right.

Ch 4 – CeeCee wanted Tim to ask her out again but she had only seen him in the morning and it has been busy. When she got home one day, there was a package for her with $5000 in it. It didn’t say who it was from but she figured it must be Tim. She confronted him the next morning and he didn’t confirm or deny. She said she would take him to dinner. They went to dinner but he paid. He brought her back to his house (where he lived with his brother who is messed up from Viet Nam). They made love and they he told her how his twin sister was in prison for murder and on death row. Once the conviction came through, his mother overdosed. He is working on a program to get the death penalty overthrown.
Ch 5 – CeeCee was spending a lot of time at Tim’s. She was in love with him and he told her he was falling in love with her. There were pictures of Andie all over the house and she asked if she could meet her one day. Tim said he would check. Marty – his brother was getting use to having her around. She cleaned the house, did laundry and even cooked for them. One day she was sitting on her bed with her roommate when she got a call from Tim after his class. He wanted to pick her up, he needed to ask her something.
Ch 6 – What Tim wanted CeeCee to do for him was to guard the Governor’s wife, who they would kidnap and hold for ransom until the Governor got Andie off Death Row. CeeCee didn’t like the plan and wanted Tim to rethink it. If she

Ch 7 – CeeCee told Tim the next day that she had some question for him and Marty. They met for pizza that evening. She asked some good questions like won’t the governor know it was them. Yes, they would go underground and change their names. Would she see him again? Yes, he would let her know where he was and she could go underground and be together. She is starting school at Carolina – she will have to stay. He said she should apply to other schools. They would have a to fake a public breakup. After the discussion, Tim & CeeCee went upstairs to make love.
Ch 8 – CeeCee told Ronnie a story her mother told her about her dad. She said that she picked up the phone at Tim’s and it was a girl. After that her mother said she never saw her father again. She told Tim what she said the Ronnie so the cause of the break up would be Tim not CeeCee. He figured it was least he could do was to be the bad guy. They faked their breakup in front of the restaurant a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. She ended the display with a slap to his face. He wasn’t expecting it, but to her if felt kind of good.
Ch 9 – It was time. CeeCee told Ronnie and her boss that she was going to spend Thanksgiving week with a friend. CeeCee, Marty and Tim drove for a couple of hours. They were arguing until CeeCee told them to stop. They spent the night at a friend’s from SCAPE that were living undercover. Naomi was not happy that they were being involved in the adventure but she did agree with the plan and that it was a good thing they were doing. Naomi helped CeeCee with a disguise, kind of a Sleeping Beauty thing. The adults made plans while CeeCee entertain Naomi & Forrest’s daughter.
Ch 10 – The car they were giving CeeCee was a stick and she didn’t know how to drive it. Tim gave her a quick lesson. They took off and Naomi and Forest were happy to see them leave. They shopped for groceries and then found the cabin. It was nice but dirty and unused inside. She was told to wear gloves at all times in the cabin. Tim gave her the keys to the cabin and then left her there. They would get the governor’s wife and bring her back tonight. He still would give her no detail on how she would see him after all this.

Ch 7 – CeeCee told Tim the next day that she had some question for him and Marty. They met for pizza that evening. She asked some good ..."

Ch 11 – CeeCee is at the secretly hoping they don’t get the governor’s wife. She decided to take a nap not sure if she would be able to sleep later. She heard the car a jumped up. They had the wife and she was fat. She was wearing a fur coat. Once she took the coat off, CeeCee realized she was pregnant (37 weeks). Tim gave CeeCee the gun although she didn’t really want it. Marty was just mean and was going to hit Genevieve but CeeCee stopped him Finally the guys left. CeeCee was left with Genevieve. Genevieve needed to use the bathroom, CeeCee was going to go with her. The door was left open a bit but after she used the facilities, Genevieve locked the bathroom door.
Ch 12 – CeeCee shot at the door but it was still locked. Finally, Genevieve open the door telling CeeCee she was nuts. She tried to tell CeeCee that Tim was a student of her and the was a womanizer. CeeCee didn’t believe her. Then she started talking about her daughter that was waiting for her to pick her up after her class, playing the sympathy card. She complained that her back was hurting saying she was having contractions. She wanted to lie down. She took the bed and CeeCee sat up in the chair to wait.
Ch 13 – CeeCee woke up to moaning, Genevieve was in labor. CeeCee needed to help. CeeCee boiled water, got towels and a knife. She helped Genevieve deliver her baby, a girl. The baby had the umbilical cord wrapped twice around the next but she fixed that and the baby cried. She wrapped the baby and gave it to her mother. She went to get Genevieve some tea. The baby cried. Genevieve was bleeding a lot and then CeeCee took her pulse. She didn’t have one. CeeCee packed up the baby and left.

Ch 14 – CeeCee headed to Naomi and Forests with the baby. She told them what happened. Forest was going to get rid of Genevieve’s body. CeeCee wanted to talk to Tim but Naomi had her take a shower and get out of her bloody clothes. Naomi make a bottle for the baby and she told CeeCee how it was going to be. CeeCee was going to go undercover with the baby with new ID. She would never see Tim again. Tim was upping the ante Andie as when they couldn’t produce the major’s wife, things would get worse for Andie. CeeCee did not like this idea but she would go with it because she does what she is told.
Ch 15 – It was Thanksgiving when CeeCee realized she was in love with the baby. She would find a way to get the baby back to her father but she wouldn’t talk to Naomi about it. She told Naomi and Forest that she needed to call her roommate to let her know she wasn’t coming back or her roommate would call the police. She called Ronnie and Ronnie told her about Tim, the governor and the police looking for her. CeeCee told Ronnie that she was going to stay in Philadelphia but didn’t have the address or phone number on her. She would leave all her stuff as it would be too difficult to move it all. The one thing Ronnie knew she would leave was the letters from her mom. She said she would give her an address to send them to later.
Ch 16 – By the end of the weekend, Naomi and Forest told CeeCee that she would be leaving. They had new identity for her (Eve) and the baby. She was from Oregon and she was going to stay with someone in Virginia. She was expected. She would need to get a job ASAP and get on with her new life. CeeCee was still hoping to return the baby to the governor.

Ch 17 – CeeCee/Eve left Naomi with the intension of stopping at the governor’s before going to Virginia. When she got there, police were everywhere so she had to alter her plan. She saw an empty cop car and thought to leave the baby there. When she opened the door, an alarm went off. She took the baby and ran. She drove until she found the highway and kept going. She felt bad that she wasn’t able to return the baby to her father but she did love the baby.
Ch 18 – CeeCee/Eve arrived at Marian’s with Corine at about midnight. Marian was very welcoming and reassuring. She thought that Corine(Cory) was Eve’s baby and treated her as such. She was going to have Eve take Cory to the clinic to have her checked out. She would stay with her for a while and help with the day-care.
Ch 19 – CeeCee is settling in at Marian’s. She is helping with the kids. She is meeting some of the new mothers at the park. They were admiring Eve’s hair but said that she would have end up cutting it. She didn’t see why but one night she was awake with Cory and found that Cory cut her hand on CeeCee’s hair. She cut it that night and she was no longer CeeCee, Tim’s girlfriend, she was now Eve, Cory’s mom.

Ch 20 – CeeCee saw a piece on the news about Tim and Marty and started crying. They were talking bout Tim’s girlfriend telling them about the house where Tim and Marty were making the phone calls. Marian guess that Tim or Marty was the Cory’s father and CeeCee let her believe that. She told Eve that she needed to forget about Tim and get on with her life as Eve for the safety of all of them. She also told Eve she needed to get a job and a “real” haircut.
Ch 21 – Eve started working at a diner near the University. As it was winter break, it wasn’t too hectic. Her boss, was a 20 year old student who lived with her girlfriend, the mother of the 4 year old that Marian babysat. Eve like the job and Marian said she could start college by taking one class at a time. That night, as she was heating up water for Cory’s formula, she saw the paper in the trash. There was a story that said the Gleason’s girlfriend committed suicide. She read the story and realized that Tim did have another girlfriend.
Ch 22 – Eve went to Marian to talk about what she read. She didn’t’ know what to think about Tim and she knew the girl who it said was his girlfriend. She waiting on them in a restaurant. Marian said Tim was probably using her. If he gave her the money, he was paying her off in every way.
My guess – the girlfriend said no to his hair brained idea of kidnapping and Tim brought CeeCee to her restaurant to say if you won’t do it, I will find someone who will.
Ch 23 – The following summer, Eve had started take a class at the university. Marian had gotten transcripts and SATS result for her and she had applied for admittance and been accepted and gotten financial aid for the fall session. Cory called her Mama for the first time. She and Marian took Cory and the twins to the park where some other young mothers were talking about the execution of Andrea Gleason. They said she had killed a woman and her daughter and stole 50k worth of jewelry. It was in the paper. Marian and Eve left and bought a paper on the way home. Eve read the article and found out that Tim lied to her about everything. She had never been so angry. The whole thing finally set her free of Tim’s hold on her.

Ch 24 – Marian took Eve to a play for her 21st birthday. Her best friend’s nephew was in the play. They play was good and Marian went backstage afterwards to say hello. Jack, the actor, couldn’t keep his eyes off Eve and asked her out. She told him she had a 3 and 1/2 year old. He was good with that. He called the next day to ask her to the Springsteen concert. She went and had a blast. It was OK to have fun again. He wants to meet Cory and really like her. The feelings are mutual. She called Lorraine when she got home and told her all about him. She knew him and said he was a good one.
Ch 25 – Jack met Cory who was super shy to being with. She didn’t have much experience with men. Jack was great with her. He made balloon animals and brought them water pistols to have a water fight. After that, she went up for a nap. She saw Jack a couple times a week but talked to him almost every night. He brought her a bike with training wheels. She was scared but rode for a little while. Jack took Eve to a used bookstore and then showed her the theater. He told her he really like her but wanted to take it slow and not mess things up. He expressed that she may be a little to coddling to Cory and she said she didn’t know how to be. She was afraid for her and didn’t want her to get hurt. He told her that she had more than her share of hurt so he understood.
Ch 26 – In the summer, they had fallen into a routine. She had classes 4 morning and they both worked on the weekends. That left them some weeknights and usually Cory was involved. On the 4th of July, Cory and Marian made a picnic dinner while Eve and Jack went to the bookstore and then to his place which he shared with 2 guys who were away for the holiday. It was the first time they were alone. She got undressed and into his bed while he went down to the kitchen. She loved everything about him but wondered if he could be serious. He told her she was beautiful, got into bed and brought out the whipped cream. The lovemaking would be passionate and messy.

Ch 27 – 1982 – Eve had the talk with Cory about her not having a father, that he died in an accident. She was upset, and they were both in tears. She told Jack about the conversation and he wanted to come over and hold her. Then he said he wanted to be Cory’s father and Eve’s husband and asked her to marry him. She said yes.
Ch 28 – 1983 – Eve graduated with her Psychology degree in May and she and Jack got married in June. They had the summer together. Jack was going back to get his masters in Theater so he could teach acting at the University instead of High School. Eve was going to look for a part time job. Cory started kindergarten in September and the first day was hard on both Cory and Eve.
Ch 29 – Mrs. Rice called Jack and Eve in to talk about Cory. She is a bright and smart girl and the little boys love her. But she has some social anxiety and doesn’t have any girl friends. She is afraid of everything. Mrs. Rice thinks they need to build her confidence. They left and Jack said she can see what the teacher is saying. Eve doesn’t let Cory do anything dangerous like riding her bike on the sidewalk or takes her out when he was afraid of the dinosaur bones at the museum. They need to make her make more decisions. Jack thinks they should give her a brother or sister.
Ch 30 - Eve was pregnant and didn’t want to tell Jack. She knew he would be happy and want to be involved but he thought she had a baby before and she knew the doctors could tell she hadn’t. she didn’t want any more lies so she kept him away from her appointment although he wanted to be there with her. Cory was happy about the baby, the best news she’s had since Jack became her daddy. After the first few months, the pregnancy was pretty easy but then the nightmares came about the hemorrhaging and blood everywhere.
Ch 31 – It was October and Eve was with a client at the Cartwright House. They interrupted her to say Cory’s school was on the phone. They asked if she or her husband had picked her up as she didn’t return to class after recess. She went immediately. The police where there. They found her 3 blocks away. She was looking for the place her mom worked. She wanted to tell her that one of the girls aunt died giving birth to a baby early so she didn’t want her mother to have the baby early and she was worried. Eve reinforce that she was never to leave school by herself and that if she had concerns, she should tell an adult at school. On Nov 21st, Eve went into labor and was in label for over 11 hours. She had the baby on Cory’s 7th birthday. Dru Bailey Elliott.

Ch 32 – 1987 – Cory is not feeling good at breakfast. She is going on a girl scout camping trip. Beside the night that Dru was born, she had only spent one night away from Eve. It was a slumber party and she got a call at 2am for her to pick her up (she was having a panic attack). She went camping but Eve and Jack got a call at midnight. She was afraid to go to the bathroom and wet herself and wouldn’t go back to the tent. Jack pointed out that Eve was that overprotective of Dru that she was on Cory. She couldn’t argue but he didn’t realize how she and Cory saved each other lives. He could never know.
Ch 33 – Cory announced that she didn’t want to go to school the next day as the kids were make fun of her. She wasn’t wrong so Eve told her to make fun of herself first then they wouldn’t have any ammunition. Cody told Eve she didn’t know her very well if she thought she could do that. Later, Eve saw an article about the ex-governor and his daughter Vivian. Cory looked a lot like Vivian but she could tell that Vivian was adventurous and confident which Cory lacked. Eve knew it was her fault.
Ch 34 – 1988 – Cory had the biological father talk Jack with Eve again. She told the same lie that she made up at the beginning. Cory finally said that she was glad that Jack was Dru’s real dad or she would be sad.
Ch 35 – 1991 – They bought their first house and Cory was going to a new private school the next week. She didn’t to go because she wouldn’t know anyone. Eve told her to think of that as a good thing, she would have a clean slate. Eve waited for a call the first day but when she picked up Cory, she said she had 4 hours of homework to do which she was excited about.
Ch 36 – Jack came home with an announcement of a play that needed kids ages 6 and 13. Both the girls would have to audition. Dru did well and got the part. Cory was very quiet and didn’t get the part. Eve called the director to see if there was anything that Cory could do and she was given a walk on role. The play was a success. Cory found out that Eve called the director and called herself a loser. She wanted to know if she had any other family. Eve said she didn’t think so but called all the Smiths in Portland and was unsuccessful.

Ch 37 – 1993 – Eve’s feet were getting worse. She went to the doctors again and this time they diagnosed her with rheumatoid arthritis. It was not just in her feet but in her hands also and she was tired all the time. She took appointment at work in the morning and then went home for a nap at lunch. Cory was worried about her. She was afraid she was going to die. Eve realized her mom died before she was 30 and Genevieve died at 32. She was now 33 and was going to live each day to the fullest.
Ch 38 – It was time for Cory to pick a college. She only applied to two and got accepted to both. UVA and North Carolina. She wanted to go to UVA to live at home but both her counselor and Jack thought she needed to get away. She accepted UNC. Jack met Eve for lunch and announced that UVA picked a new president, Irving Russell. It was a good thing that Cory wouldn’t be at UVA, she shouldn’t be there either.
Ch 39 – Eve told Jack she wanted to move. He had tenure and thought that she wanted to move to Chapel Hill to be near Cory. That was easy to get out of. She didn’t not want to go there. They brought Cory to school and when she got here there was an email from Cory to call when they got home. There was also an email from F&N from someone who needed a new start. She deleted it.
Ch 40 – There was a meet & greet at the beginning of the new year. The first person Eve met was President Russell as she fell into his arms tripping over a back pack. He squeezed her sore hand and she was happy to get away when someone wanted to talk to him. She ran to the bathroom and cried. Cory was still not happy where she was in November. Jack said she could come home but she would have to go to a counselor. Eve was determined to not be involved with it.
Ch 41 – 1998 – After two years at UVA, Cory felt strong enough to go back to UNC. She met a news reporter and told her mom to stop calling and sending her things. She didn’t come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas. She came home for spring break with Ken. Eve, Jack and Dru didn’t like him at all. For Eve, she reminded him too much of Tim. Cory told Eve that she was the root to all her problems and that she didn’t want her to know about her real dad because she didn’t want to share her. She accused Jack and always siding with Eve.

Ch 42 – 2004 – Eve is getting her letters to Cory returned – return to sender in Ken’s writing. They found Guinevere’s body but there was no baby. Everyone is speculating about the baby. Ken got assigned the story for his station. Eve is sick, she threw up and her arthritis is bad again.
Ch 43 – The next day, Eve called Cory and she actually picked up. She said she called to congratulate Ken on the story and Cory told her about the knife they found. Eve remembered cutting the umbilical cord. She told Cory about the play and said she missed her. Cory told her not to start and hung up.
Ch 44 – The press release said that the gun was registered to Tim Gleason and that the blood on the knife was Guinevere’s. Eve was getting worse and Jack was worried about her saying she was obsessed about the story. Jack said she wasn’t herself. Eve realized that she was becoming CeeCee, the scared little girl again.
Ch 45 – Tim said he kidnapped the Guinevere but didn’t kill her or the baby. Eve/CeeCee is convinced that Tim will tell them about CeeCee Wilkes was there and knows what happened. They will find out that Eve is CeeCee. She knows that Cory will be hurt by all of this and can’t let that happen. She was in a session at work and not paying attention – she had to reschedule. Even the girl knew something was up, Eve was pale and shaking.
Ch 46 – Eve went to Marian. She asked if the police had been to see her and she told her no. She told Eve what she knew of her and that was all, she didn’t want to know more. Eve told her about the play that Dru and Jack were going to be in and Marian said she would love to go. She didn’t like Cory’s Ken either. She told Eve she was a wonderful mother.

Eve tried to call Cory and left her a message saying it was urgent she call her. No answer. She tried to get a hold of Tim Gleason’s lawyer, no luck. She tried to call Ken, no luck. She called Dru. She told Dru what happened and Dru came over. She said of course she had to tell her story. Dru tried to call Cory but couldn’t get through but left a message to call her mother. She called Lorraine, her friend from the TV station an. They set up camera and Jack came home. She said that Tim Gleason didn’t kill Guinevere Russell and she knew because she was there.
Part 3 Corinne – Cory was watching TV and saw Eve tell her story. She could believe it. Ken saw and was mad he missed the scoop. Ken told her that at least she was going to be rich and the Russells were loaded. Dru called to let her know that they (Eve, Jack and Dru) were driving down so Eve could talk to her. Then she asked Ken to marry her so they could be a real family and raise the baby right. That is when he told her that he was still married. He didn’t want to destroy his wife’s social standing. She kicked him out. Eve, Jack and Dru showed up. Eve tried to talk to her but Cory wasn’t listening. She asked Jack how he felt, disappointed. The police showed up and took Eve away.

The press were everywhere and Cory was alone in the house. She finally called Ken to come home. He told her that he reopen the divorce proceedings. He was screening her calls. She got a call from Irving Russell’s lawyer asking for a DNA test. She got the results and it was confirmed that she was Russell’s daughter. Irving Russell called and say he wanted to meet and invited her to stay with him. She didn’t think she could make the drive so they came down to see her. The meeting went well, she liked her sister and father. She asked about her mother and Russ told her everything and how destroyed he was went he figured out that she was dead. He wrote her a check for 300K what he would have paid for her education. Ken was sucking up to them and like to point out her phobia and blame them all on Eve. She got a call from Jack and he told her that he had been trying get a hold of her. She didn’t know Ken had been screen her calls from Jack too. He asked her to visit Eve but she said no. She told him about Eve cutting her out of her mother to get a baby. Jack asked if Ken told her that. Jack said that she accused her mother of coddling her but that Ken is doing the same thing. She complains that she can’t be her own person well, she needed to start being her own person and not let Ken run her life also. She hung up on him. Dru called and gave her a piece of her mind also. Dru is worried about her mom as they wouldn’t give Eve her medications and she was in a lot of pain. She really wants Cory to visit her. Cory said no and threated to hang up on her too. She was watching the trial and Eve in pain with her swollen wrists and her limp. Finally, she told Ken that she wanted see Eve. He didn’t want to take her but agreed.

Ken took Cory went to see her mother but wouldn’t go in with her. That was OK, she didn’t want him there. She heard her mother’s story and how all she wanted once her mother died was to be loved and how she was getting that feeling from Tim. She realized now, that he was manipulating and using her. Eve told Cory that the last words Guinevere said to her was to take care of the baby. She told Cory that she was strong and that to know that she was loved. Cory walked out with a lot to think about. Ken started in on her on the way home and she realizes that he wanted her to be weak. She told him he wanted him out of the house. She told him to stop the car 2 miles from home and she walked. She changed the locks on the door and got a security system on the house. She talked to Dru that night and told her what happened and Dru asked if she would be a character witness for her mother. Cory said should couldn’t do that but she would ask Russ to be easy on her mother. She was intimidated by Russell so she wrote an email asking Vivian to ask her father to be lenient on Eve. She got a return email from Vivian saying that she could do that with how much pain and suffering their father went through. Cory went to visit Eve a couple more times and Eve encouraged her to see a therapist. She ask if she wanted advice before giving it. She told Cory that to think of when she felt the strongest and when she felt scared or insecure, to channel that strength. That is how she got through so much. One day she got home and had a package from Russ. It contained, $3000 and some of her bio’s mother’s jewelry. She didn’t think he was going to like what she was going to do. She called Jack and said she wanted to help with Eve’s defense and that she would be a character witness. Then she called Russell to thanks him for the package. She asked him to be lenient to Eve and he said he couldn’t do that. He asked to think about Guinevere much have felt like being in that cabin and she did. But all she could think about was how scared that teenage girl had been.

Ch 68 – Cory faced her fears using the technique Eve told her and drove the 150 miles to Charlottesville. She walked into President Russell office and asked him in person to let up on Eve. If he loved her, he needed to love Corine Elliot also. Her mother, Eve has suffered her whole life because of what she did and she is paying with the pain she has been in.
Ch 69 – Eve – Ronnie showed with her CeeCee’s mother’s letters. Eve is in prison for a year. She was happy to see Ronnie but happier to get the letters back and see if her mother has any advice for her 44 year old daughter in jail.
Ch 70 – One year later – Cory had her son, Sam and Eve was sorry she couldn’t be there with her but Dru was there for her. Eve was on her way to Cory’s but stopped at the men’s prison to see Tim. She wanted to know if he was the one who sent money to Cory. Yes, there was a possibility that she was his daughter as he had an affair with Guinevere when she was his Spanish teacher. He admitted to using everyone. One she left, she felt closure.
Ch 71 – The last letter CeeCee’s mother wrote to her saying if she lived, she would call every day just to tell her she loved her unconditionally.
