Craig | 11 comments Author: Bragi Olaffson
Title: The Pets
Original language: The Icelandic.

This short novella details the main character as he returns to Iceland from a trip to the British Isles and his (Mis)-handling of his social interactions leading to a tension filled scene at his apartment. A psychological and suggestive drama that was well done. 4/5 ⭐️

That sounds interesting! I was thinking about reading an Icelandic book for the "place you want to visit." For translated book, I'm thinking about The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. What are others choosing in this category?

Sara Caauwe | 31 comments I finally read Anna Karenina for this category. I personally thought it was about 400 pages too long, but there are many lessons to be learned in the remaining pages. (And plenty of lessons in the 400 I would cut, but I’m not that interested in hunting or farming.)

Valerie | 10 comments I will probably read "My Brilliant Friend" by Elena Ferrante. It has been on my TBR list for several years now.

Craig | 11 comments Just completed The Atom Station by Halldór Laxness- another Icelandic book and author and am about to begin Iceland’s Bell by the same author, so I’m in a bit of an Icelandic rut. But am planning to go to Iceland this fall, so will list those under category of “Places I’ve Wanted to Visit,” and “Book from a different point of view” respectively. ✅✅

Craig | 11 comments Oh, and Laxness was awarded the Nobel prize for literature in 1955, so “Iceland’s Bell” should prob be that category. 1/3 done and enjoying.
