Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Some may question how GotM is guaranteed to bring me joy, with the grimishness of the story.

Well, this was my third reading, so I knew how much I enjoy reading it going in - the guarantee.

The joy comes from reading a book that is so fascinating and full of great twists and turns. It's also fun making the connections to other books in the series.

Not because of the grimmishness, just the confusion. :P

Hey, I feel ya. I remember my first read of it. It was overwhelming and fantastic and confusing and....an experience.

Good news is that by the 3rd reading, the overwhelming and most of the confusing are gone. Still fantastic.

This is just insane to me. I don't have the time or the patience. The first HALF of the the first book took me a month to get through. No way would I be willing to spend that much time on a book, still feel confused as hell at the end of it, and then do that twice more.

But I also didn't enjoy it at all... so that's the difference. If you're confused but loving it anyway, more power to you. I just can't fathom it. LOL

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I would have used it for the category that has a protagonist sharing your occupation.

But I haven't been called back yet where I applied for a job as a Bridgeburner captain & pawn of the God of Chance.
