Bekka Romero | 3 comments The book that I chose to read for the third review of a graphic novel was Sisters by Raina Telgemeier. I chose this book because a lot of the kids at the school that I work at have read this book and really seemed to enjoy it so I figured that I would give it a read. The book is about a young girl named Raina and the ups and downs of her relationship with her younger sister Amara and their little brother. Throughout the book, the tend to argue and annoy each other a lot, but at the end of the day they still love each other and are family. In the book they learn how to get along with each other and tolerate each other even when they can’t stand to be in the same room. They take a road trip from San Francisco to Colorado and they end up losing their pet snake mango inside of the car along the way. The book is filled with laughs and flashbacks. The pictures add great images to the story and make the book more enjoyable to actually see what is being envisioned. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys graphic novels, although it isn’t a book I would typically go for, I did laugh and enjoy it overall. Some themes in the book would be family, overcoming obstacles, and struggling relationships. Overall, the book was an enjoyable and entertaining read and I don’t typically enjoy graphic novels, so I would recommend checking the book out and giving it a try!
