I decided to read the book Far From You by Tess sharpe for my LGBTQ book report. This book was very mysterious and dramatic due to all the scenarios that the main character was in. This book is about drugs and a complicated love triangle. The main character is only a teenager and has survived two big car accidents. The second accident left her with chronic pains that she will deal with for her entire life. She then became addicted to drugs. When her parents found out they sent her to a family members home so she can be “straightened out.” That family member was able to help her for a while. When she returned home, her best friend Mina whom she was in love with, was shot to death. Sophie then goes to rehab after being accused of getting back on drugs. Once she returns home, she begins to look for the killer. During that time, she falls in love with Mina’s brother. She then becomes confused in what she will do because she also dated his sister. Sophie's drug addiction was tough because she had a disability that caused her chronic pains for the rest of her life. Her doctors prescribed her strong medicines that her family was hesitant on letting her take due to her addiction. Overall, the book was extremely good and I enjoyed following the mystery of who killed Mina. The book also takes a huge plot twist that had me a bit confused but the author did a great job in my opinion.
