Michaela Weston | 9 comments Far From You, by Tess Sharpe is easily the most exhilarating novel I have ever read. I began reading this novel yesterday and just about binge read every single page of it cover to cover. I often don’t read the acknowledgements of any novel I read and I just wanted to hold onto the book a little longer, so I did just that. I re-read, and re-analyzed every single piece of the novel. Told anyone I could who was interested about this murder mystery love story with endless amounts of twists and turns. I was extremely intrigued by the fact that the novel switched from Sophie’s past point of view to the current situations she was dealing with. It was extremely difficult when a present day chapter ended on a cliffhanger and I had to read through a chapter past point of view in order to find out what happened next, I often caught myself looking ahead.
Sophie comes into contact with death more than once throughout the novel, and she takes us through that and the story unravels piece by piece. We come to find out that Sophie and her late best friend Mina share a huge secret(that I won’t ruin for you). This secret binds them together and tears them apart throughout many instances in the novel. Their relationship comes to a minor halt when Sophie’s drug addiction comes to light. Once Sophie finally has 6 months under her belt she returns home to her family and Mina, and 2 months later Mina is killed. Drugs were planted on Sophie making it look like the two of them were out in the wilderness to “score” when in reality there is much more to the story that I can’t go into detail about without spoiling the entire novel for anyone reading essentially. All in all, this novel shows the trials and tribulations of a brave young woman recovering from a drug addiction, hiding secrets, and solving what amounts to be multiple murder cases.
