Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 193 comments Following is what I know about various limited Coover editions.

From publishers Bruccoli-Clark Layman --:

The Water Pourer, unpublished chapter from Origin of the Brunists, 1972, 22 pages ; lmt'd 350 signed and numbered copies ;; not republished.

Hair O' The Chine: A Documentary Film Script, 1979, 55 pages ; 500 signed and numbered copies ; mine is number XXXXVIII which means it was one reserved for author and publisher ;; not republished story about our Three Little Pigs and a certain Wolf. This one's available cheap at abe.

After Lazarus: A Filmscript, 1980, 26 pages, 500 signed and numbered ; collected in A Night at the Movies.

Spanking the Maid, rare first edition with illustrations by Rikki Ducornet, 1981 ; 600 signed and numbered copies. A beautiful object. 95(?) copies have a fair copy manuscript (Bob's hand!) tipped into the verso of the half title page. Trade edition by Grove.

From Penmaen Press --:
Charlie in the House of Rue, 1980, 44 pages ; 1000 copies, 300 signed by Coover and illustrator -- wood engravings by Jerome Kaplan. Repub'd in A Night at the Movies.

From Lord John Press --:
The Convention, 1981, 30 pages. Measures 2-1/4 x 3". 50 signed and numbered copies. Found also in the impossible to find In Bed One Night and Other Brief Encounters.

From Burning Deck --:
In Bed One Night and Other Brief Encounters, 1983, 59 pages, short story collection. 1000 pb ; 200 hd signed. The enlarged edition slated from Dzanc has evaporated.

Nate D (rockhyrax) | 3 comments Whoa. Ducornet illustrated a Spanking the Maid edition? I would like to see this. I think I have the normal 1981 Grove trade on that one.

You could do some of your jpg posting for us...
From abebooks, several of the 'more images' links from these sellers provide a little look=see :: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Searc...

The only image I've found of Rikki's work is :: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookD...

That's more than pleasing! I hadn't really taken notice of its existence until that recent Understanding Coover thing I read.

Mine is # XXXXIV... is that good? :D

ETA: Well, I could've just read the directions. Apparently also reserved for author and publisher.

Yep. And just checking in on the prices (low! low! low!) for this collectible gem over at abe and I find "This book is shelved in the Film Studies section of our retail store and may require extra shipping time" ; lmao!!!

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 193 comments For very little $$$ I got a copy of The Water Pourer still in its original cardboard packaging from Powell's of Chicago. They say they have another 5 copies, quite possibly still pristine ::

A lovely little trinket! I actually feared I couldn't read it ; the binding not allowing access without a crack.

My copy just arrived. Very lovely; #50 of the #300 signed.

Thanks again for pointing me to it - a welcome addition to the Coover shelf.
