I read between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys. It was a quick read, but still a very moving book. I had no prior knowledge of the Russians relocating the Lithuanians, so even though it was a fiction book I really learned a lot.

I read The Emerald Circus, one of my favorites so far this year. It's a book of short stories by Jane Yolen (although she writes a lot for kids and teens, this book is for adults). She takes well-known stories and writes either a continuation of the story or an alternate of the story. They include what happened to the folks left behind after the tornado took Dorothy to Oz, a few changes to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Emily Dickinson trying to write her poems. Very well-written and based in what you know...but they don't end where you would expect!
