Kelsey Stoltenberg | 9 comments I read “The Carrie Diaries” by Candace Bushnell which is the story of Carrie Bradshaw from “Sex in the City” but when she is a senior in high school. This high school romance story is super cute and kept me wanting to read more. It starts with Carrie being rejected from the new school writing program which hits her pretty hard since her dream is to become a writer. However her biggest dream is moving to New York City. Things take a turn in her romance life when her childhood crush Sebastian Kydd comes back to school. You see their love story form and eventually she falls in love with him. Her best friends meanwhile are losing their virginity one by one, but Carrie refrains from following along and keeps her virginity. She does so to maintain good light with her two younger sisters as she struggles to be the best influence on them after the passing of their mother. Later in the story her friend begins to date Sebastian and she begins writing under a different name which becomes very popular around the school. This shows how hard Carrie is working to get into this writing program that will hopefully land her a spot at a college in her dream city. I think the story is a great story for young girls in high school because it touches base on a lot of things.
