She nodded and got out too, opening the door and moved her feet on to the pavement. She stood and then shut the door. Soora shivered as she looked around, but not from the cold. Something more. Yet she had no idea what.
Adrian opened the door to the classroom, smirking at the intricate and detailed scribblings on the blackboard, remnants of a busy last period. The teachers were awful at cleaning up after themselves. He spotted a name out from the others, 'Dracula', and smiled. He remembered the old fool well. Amusing and pleasant to be around, he missed his old friend. He turned back, looking toward Soora expectantly, waiting for her to follow him in. He wished for her to wait there until the meeting was over.
Soora walked in more than a little hesitantly, biting her lip she looked at the dust covered bored and then back to Adrian. "Why do you do night schooling?" She asked as she looked out the window of the room, her eyes darting around and taking everything in at a rapid pace.
"Don't you find learning at night easier?" asked Adrian, walking casually up the classroom, "The sun is unpleasant, distracting. It hurts my eyes."He picked up an old textbook, turning it over in his hands before setting it down on the table. 'A History of Vampires' it was called, he remembered being involved in its production during the 17th century. It was a very old edition.
"The meeting wouldn't take more than 10 minutes," promised Adrian.
"I think the sun is great, it gave us all life, without it none of us would be hear." She said simply and shrugged her elegant shoulders. She twirled her red hair and then looked down at another textbook that sat on the table. "Okay." She whispered as she turned it so she could read the title easier.
Adrian smiled at that. Debatable, he found the moon much alluring, and thought basking in her light was what gave him real life. If you could call him alive."See you soon," he murmured, leaving the classroom and closing the door behind him.
Soora watch him leave and defied she would sit down on one of the desks. Sighing she bites her lip and rested her head on her hand, tapping her nails in the desk and flipping through the text book slowly.
((Short timeskip))Adrian strolled back from the meeting, a smile on his face. The girl he'd wanted was on her way to winning the little game, the others would die. It wouldn't be finalized until the night itself, but the competition was about more than just their appearance. The other boys had let him go early upon hearing he'd left a human in one of the classrooms.
He opened the door, peering in. She was scanning through a textbook, probably finding its contents quite amusing.
Soora jumped when the door opened, her gaze darting to his, "Oh, It's you." She said in relief as she slammed the heavy textbook shut with a loud wack. She had seen some of the students in the corridors and they looked at her every time they walked through the door, some even moving closer until another pulls them away. It was weird.
"Who else?" he asked as he came in, closing the door behind him. He observed her relieved demeanor, and supposed curious students had unnerved her. He hadn't worried they'd attack her though, she'd been seen entering the school with him. And no one, no one, touched Adrian Dracul's things. Be them living or not. "Some light reading?" he asked, moving to sit on the desk beside her, hoping she'd find solace in his presence. That's what he needed, her to trust in him.
"Well yeah, It's a little weird though." She said gently and pushed the book away, her shoulders relaxing slightly as he sat next to her. "Do you study this?" She asked as she looked over the front of the book and then back at him, her eyes calm again as she didn't think so much about the school.
"No," he replied, "Ancient History isn't something necessary for me - I already know it all. But sciences and whatnot are ever-changing, so they're the kinds of subjects I take. And English."He smirked. "Weird indeed, but that's our history."
"Oh so this is all true?" She asked in surprise as she looked down at the book and read the title for the first time. Her eyes widened, "Vampire history." She said quietly as she looked at it. "True?" She said in shock.
Adrian smiled at her, his fangs elongating and his pupils widening. "You tell me."He braced himself in case she screamed. If she did, he'd kill her immediately but he hoped she'd have more backbone than that. It was rare for a girl of Adrian's to keep quiet when he dropped the bomb on them but occasionally they did and they were always the ones who tasted best.
Soora just froze, not making a sound as his fangs showed and his pupils dilated to a black nothing. She swallowed and her hands clutched at the table as his predatory gaze followed everyone of her movements. She stayed still, blinking a couple of times as she stared at him. Sooras heart beat fast, pounding against her ribs.
So far, so good. She was frightened, he could easily see that, but she was holding it together. Clever. To scream would mean he'd strike, and he could see it in her eyes that she knew that. He leaned forward, his eyes locked on hers."Are you frightened?"
"It would be strange not to be." She whispered through a dry throat, the words coming out breathy and rasped. Soora sat still as he leaned in close, her heart continued to beat fast as she tiered to slow her breathing as she stared.
"You'd be surprised," said Adrian, "Vampires are heavily romanticized these days. But I'm no Edward Cullen, I trust you know that... I'm not here to watch over you whilst you sleep."He reached forward, brushing her hair from her face, testing her even more.
"Oh, I know." She said seriously and her jaw clenched and her eyes closed tightly as he brushed her red hair off her face and over her shoulder. Each move he made to her could be the tiniest step towards the end of her short human life.
He chuckled, her fear making him excited. "You know, if you close your eyes, you're just accepting your own death." His hand settled on her neck and stayed there, begging her not to move. He leaned forward, grazing his teeth against her throat for a moment before pulling back, his fangs disappearing.
She didn't move, the stiff posture of her body keeping her as still as a statue. Soora sucked in a sharp breath as he grazed his teeth along her slender pale neck. Her eyes flew open when he pulled back and away from her.
"I won't bite you until you ask me to," he said simply. Then he smirked, and the cogs turned and turned within his mind. "And you will."He hopped off the desk and leaned forward, kissing her nose patronizingly before holding out his hand. "Well, I suppose I should take you home."
"Yeah." She whispered and almost flinched when he kissed her nose, she gazed at his hand and released the text book she had been holding in her white knuckle grip. Soora let go and slowly slid her hand into his, watching his eyes as she did so.
He pulled her to her feet and led her towards the door. Fear - it could make even the strongest of people do the strangest of things. It was by far his favourite emotion, and it was most becoming on her, who was probably not afraid of many things. "Tomorrow night," he said, "You will come to the school again, ask at reception for me - they'll send you to me. Don't worry, I won't kill you."
As he reached the door, he turned to her, stroking her cheek. "And you will come... Don't you want to know what happened to Hannah?"
"Thank you that's reassuring." She whispered as she stopped when he did, show watched as his hand moved out and then stroked along her cheekbone, but when he mentioned Hannah all the breath was knocked out of her. "What happened to her?" She asked desperately as she gazed up at him.
Adrian simply gave her a smile and continued walking. He wouldn't tell her now, the knowledge was his bargaining chip - she'd come to him all too eagerly tomorrow and then he would tell her. He expected she'd cry, and then she'd compare them. Adrian had not killed her, nor had he hurt her. He could deal with her hatred and her fear, so long as her trust was given in return.
She quickly followed after him, "Adrian, please tell me." She begged as she looked at him, following along besides him desperately. She needed to help Hannah, or know what had happened to the poor girl at least.
"I don't wish to worry you," he lied, "Besides, here is not the time or place for talk of such dark things." He didn't release her hand, picking up speed a little. He would take her home, gain her trust. He hadn't bitten her - he most likely would. Several times. But he would drink only when she bared her neck to him.
She had no idea what was happening between them but she knew she was stuck with him and would probably be stuck with him until she is killed by him. Soora followed him as he dragged her by the hand to his large expensive car. Shuddering at what he was saying she bites her lip and worry pulsed through her.
Adrian smiled as the engine hummed almost silently, and pulled out of the school car park. "Now where do you live?" he asked, driving at least several times over the speed limit, lights flashing by as he did. He reached into a compartment behind him and pulled out a chilled bottle of water, handing it to her. She looked like she needed it.
She grabbed the water from his hand and took a long sip as she sat there, her leg bouncing in agitation and hair shielding her face from him. She gives him the name of a road that is close to her house but not exactly where he can find her and her family unless he follows her scent. Soora didn't want her family involved.
He was driving far too fast for her to possibly know where she was, and he chuckled. He already knew where she lived, he'd found out after his meeting, he just wanted to test her. She hadn't disappointed him in the slightest. He pulled his car to a stop, ending up outside her house. He leaned his head back on the headrest and smiled lazily at her.
She looked at her house and swallowed as she looked at him, "Thanks." She whispered nervously and her hand clutched at the door handle in a white knuckle grip, "Tomorrow?" Soora said softly and sweeps her hair off her face.
He nodded. "Tomorrow - don't be late, okay?" He reached over, opening the door for her and gave her a patronizing smile. "You want me to walk you to the door? If your parents ask where you've been, tell them that you were with me." He wanted to bite her there and then, but he restrained. He was a man of great self restraint, and would not indulge like a common vampire. He was much better than that.
"Mmmmm... for some reason I don't think that's such a good idea." She said quietly and then got out of the car as quickly as physically possible for her. She ran up to the door and grabbed her keys and opened the door wide. Soora then locked it and leaned against the doors breathing quickly.
Adrian chuckled again, closing the door she'd left open in her panic. He pulled away, driving back to the school for a lesson he was teaching, a familiarly pleasant buzz in his system. Oh she was going to be a lot of fun. He would wait, wait until tomorrow.
It had gotten dark a couple of hours ago and she had only started walking down the barren streets to his school. Her hair was down and bounced as she nervously walked, biting her lip her hands shook as she drew closer to the school. What was she going to find out? What was going to happen? She saw the students of the school watch her as she walked in, There eyes predatory and dark as they looked at her.
Adrian's gaze fell on the girl in front of him. She was dainty, with long blonde hair and wide brown eyes. If porcelain dolls were people, they'd look like this."Your redhead is here," she said, her voice a soft soprano.
"Thank you Elia," replied Adrian, "Bring her to me."
The doll girl disappeared.
The girl looked at Soora and then looked away and started walking, expecting Soora to follow. She swallowed and bites her lip even harder, mindful as to not draw blood. She followed the small, slender girl down the corridors of the poorly lit school.
The girl stopped in front of the door then opened it and gestured Soora inside.
The first thing Soora saw was Adrian as she stood in the door frame.
"Well if anything you're obedient," he allowed, "Come in; I have no time for idle chat. We have much to talk about."He gestured for her to enter and looked over his shoulder at Elia. "Thank you, Elia, you are dismissed." The little girl sauntered off without another word, her expression as doll-like as she looked.
Soora narrowed her eyes but didn't say anything as she sat down in a seat a few chairs away from him, her heart fast in fear for her friend. Confusion, hate and anger. She was a mess but she came and got straight to the point, "Where's Hannah?" She demanded.
"I don't know her exact location," replied Adrian, "I expect she's in my friend's residence somewhere. Not that I could tell you what state she was in - he doesn't have much self control. In any way."Adrian smirked to himself - he knew the girl was dead, but it wouldn't be fun to tell the little orange top straight away.
She glared at his smirk and her jaw ticked as she licked her teeth behind her lips. She flinched back at his last words, "Self control." She repeated and a shiver racked down her spine. "Are you saying she may not even be alive anymore?" She whispered, her eyes sharp and fists clenched.
Adrian shrugged. "Depends how drunk he was. Technically we're not supposed to kill humans so freely, but then he's not really the type to follow rules. I can't say either way, but I can tell you this - he's done it before. He's killed more girls than Bill Gates has money."He watched her expression intently, waiting for the reaction.
She looked at him blankly and down at the desk her shoulders slumping and resolve dwindling as she sat there, "So what am I where for?" She whispered and looked down at the table, tracing lines and not looking at him as fear and guilt kicked her in the gut so hard she would have been winded if she wasn't sitting down.
"Because I told you to be," he said simply, "Now I'll give you a few minutes to calm down. Forget about Hannah. If she isn't dead, it won't be long until she is so. And I can't stop him, vampires do not deny other vampires their food - it's basic etiquette." He reached forward and stroked her hair lightly. "Don't worry about your friend, worry about yourself."
