Neverending TBR Corner discussion

I hope you all enjoyed the first book in the Lunar Chronicles. It's time for Book Two!!! I'll be the discussion leader for Scarlet and I can't wait to discuss all the interesting plots and twists that are going to happen in this book.

This isn't a spoiler free area. So readers can discuss everything and anything about Scarlet. But not the other books in the series.

But please do list ***SPOILERS*** above your replies in order to avoid spoiling other members.

Loving the new character so far. Scarlet is so interesting and very bad ass. Her personality was well written in my opinion. I expected her to be a young innocent little girl... but she is a very strong, committed character so far. She doesn't let anyone put her down. She will do anything to get her grandmother back.

How is everyone else enjoying the book? I am so excited to hear your thoughts!!

My first note on this book was, why is this street fighter always hungry. Are wrestlers and such always hungry? Do they continuously eat a lot of food all the time? I don't know how body building works. Could he be the "wolf" in this story. He probably took her grandmother. First two pages into the book and I'm already making assumptions.

When Scarlet's father showed up, I was like.. @*$(#...the street fighter did take her grandmother!! But I'm not sure if the author would give that away so quickly. So I could be wrong. And of course he didn't. I just assumed.. that a guy named Wolf.. would kidnap the grandmother because of the Red Riding Hood Story. *eye roll*

Reading Cinder's parts in this book is making me so damn nervous for the prince and the citizens. Because once the Lunar Queen finds out that Cinder has escaped some crazy shit is gonna go down. Oh boy. She's going to be so angry and I'm going to be so excited reading about it.

I'm loving Scarlet. I like how tough and independent she is. I liked that she stood up for Cinder even though she had no idea who she was. Also, Wolf is very interesting to me. I wonder what his role in the story is going to be.

I love Iko. I am really glad she is in this book as well. I am really enjoying where the author is taking this story. And it is starting to feel like something isn't what it seems. Or am I the only one feeling this way? Like... who really is Princess Selene? Is it Cinder. Or is it.. one of the other "princess" on the cover of the books. Could be Rapunzel for all I know haha.

I am super glad Iko is back.. as a massive space ship! Like Wah? I do hope Cinder finds her a body and soon haha. So reading a bit more I have noticed that damn Scarlet's grandmother is obviously hiding something. But what is it? An item of some sort? I'm starting to wonder how Cress and Winter connect to all this. Rapunzel and Elsa?? Like... what are their stories? I am so excited for this series. It's so good!!

The fact that Cinder's brain can detect lies is so awesome! The Lunar Queen has nothing on her now! And Oh my gosh!!! Scarlet's grandfather was Lunar? So that means Scarlet is 1/2 Lunar. Is it possible at all for her to be Princess Selene? That is what Cinder is assuming right now. I am loving where the author is taking Scarlet's and Wolf's relationship and I can't wait for their feelings to develop even deeper. OMG THEY KISSED...!!

I'm definitely curious about this organization Wolf was a part of and why did they take Scarlet's grandmother? What purpose do they have for her and how does Cinder fit into all of this?

What the heck? What are these wolf things? This is getting dark. I like it. It's really good. Cinder and Thorne are running for their lives. I wonder if Scarlet is okay and why she was given that ID chip. What is happening? What will happen?

They kissed!!! Finally!!! I now see how Cinder and Scarlet are connected. Now, doesn't the fact that Scarlet's grandfather is Lunar, make her part Lunar too? Are all the main characters going to be Lunar? I wonder.

This book is honestly so good. A lot more action has been happening compared to the first one. Argh I just want Cinder to kill Levana already. Where is Cinder? Cinder please end this. This book is filled with so many emotions. Why isn't this a TV Show? Will it end up as one? I really hope so. And they better go by the books. They better. Loved the ending of the book. Cinder has become stronger and more confident about herself. I love that.

*covers mouth with hand* Reading what happened to Scarlet's grandmother made me very sad. Those chapters actually had my hands and legs filled with goosebumps. I feel so bad for her. Scarlet has to find Cinder. Cinder has to stop all this. Will Cinder be able to stop all this? I have no idea. She still has a hard time controlling people, and yet Queen Levana can control so many at once. I don't know what will happen. I can't believe Kai accepted her proposal. But what else could he do? People were being murdered by these wolf Lunars. :( This is so crazy.

I just finished Scarlet and I already can't wait to read Cress! This was so good, I am so happy that all of the books in the series are already published or else I would die of anticipation.

OMG I know right!!! I am pissed at myself for waiting seven years to finally pick it up. But I am also glad that I waited since now I don't have to wait for each book to get published haha.

Now I've read this! I noticed couple months was enough to forget what happened at the ball. What was the shooting? Was it that Cinder couldn't control her power and it exploded through her hand? Does Levana know that Cinder is princess?

This book was again smooth and nice read, something is missing for this to be amazing but this was enjoyable. I liked how smooth the text is and the world author have created!

Scarlet was nice character but I noticed I liked her maybe even more than Cinder. Cinder wasn't so big character in this book, maybe a bit flat. But this was Scarlet's book so maybe it was the meaning. Scarlet is so strong and uses guns without the second thought :D Cinder is couple years younger and maybe that makes the difference.

It was a bit shame that it was soooo obvious that Wolf was good character. When Scarlet got information about the tattoo I knew it couldn't be Wolf and it was quite a shame. I like to be surprised :)

It was short time when I started also think that maybe Cinder isn't the princess!! That was so enjoyable part and author should have continued that! Now you started to wonder but after couple pages it was obvious again it was Cinder. It would've been interesting to wonder longer who is the princess!

It was interesting to wonder what was Scarlet's grandmother's part in all of this. It was obvious that there was a real reason for her been kidnapped but I thought it would've been some item.

Thorne was really nice character! I liked how he tried to charm everybody and when you knew there couldn't be anything between Thorne and Cinder it was only fun :D

This was quite dark book! I was mesmerized when news showed what happened in the streets! It was SO awful!

End was good again and made you wonder what is going to happen next...

What did you like about minor characters?

I really enjoyed the characters. I do agree with you that Cinder wasn't as important or involved in Scarlet. But that makes sense since it's Scarlet's book.

I honestly thought Wolf was going to be a bad guy mostly because he represents "The Wolf" from the Red Riding Hood story ... and that character ends up eating her grandmother and such. So I thought Wolf was going to be bad the whole time. But when he ended up being good and Scarlet's love interest I was surprised.

I am really excited for Cress. I wonder how Rapunzel will come to all of this. I also recently bought Stars Above so I'm going to catch up to that before I pick up Cress.

I finally finished Scarlet!!! I kind of missed having Cinder more in the story, but Scarlet and Wolf's story got good toward the end. I'm curious to see how Rapunzel places a part in this story.

I finished Scarlet today and WOW. I am very curious to see what happens with Wolf and his story.

I found Thorne a bit annoying at first but I think that was the point! It will be interesting to see how he fits into the story later.

Scarlet is a very strong, independent character. I really enjoy how different Scarlet and Cinder are and am excited to read more about how they work together in Cress.

Also, I loved that Iko is back!! She's a great character.

I loved the pacing of this book and had such trouble putting this book down!!!

I'm going to read Stars Above after Winter because it's collection and there were some novel(s?) setting after Winter.

Iko is lovely character, I like her too!

I'm reading Stars Above in the middle of reading this series. Just because some of the stories you need to read after certain books. I finally figured how to read them in the right order without being spoiled. Marissa Meyer explains it all on her website.

And I'm going to read Fairest after Cress. Haven't picked up Cress yet. But will soon :)

I'm glad we are all enjoying the series. It's so good.
