Clara (clarasreading) I've been meaning to read The Hate U Give for about 2 years now, so this will be the perfect opportunity to finally get around to it :)

I did the audio on that one. It was amazing.

message 7: by Helen (new)

Helen (helenfhnin) | 11 comments Do books that won the award in past years count as well? Because I've been meaning to finish this book (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) and it won the award in 2017.

message 8: by Nancy N (last edited May 24, 2019 01:47PM) (new)

Nancy N | 7 comments Circe is amazing!! I have my own goal of reading all of the 2018 winners by the end of the year. Mythology is not at all what I would blatantly choose to read, but couldn't put it down.

Will probably do Educated for my choice in this area.

The prompt isn't specifying that it has to be 2018 so I would say any counts.

Jenn | 13 comments I have a few books from this category, but will probably go with Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania byErik Larson. I really want to read it, and have been putting it off because I’m “not in a nonfiction kind of mood.” But his books are never dry, so I have to get over that!

message 11: by D.L. (new)

D.L. I am doing Children of Blood and Bone & have even chosen it as the month's read for my YA discussion group :)

Ana (4nn4) Here is what I've read and quick thoughts on it:
Circe by Madeline Miller (2018)- I've read it recently. And it was a 4-star book for me. The story is interesting and I love Greek mythology. But, the language was sometimes a little difficult for me, it was slowing down my reading and with that decreasing the enjoyment of the book.
The Kiss Quotient (The Kiss Quotient, #1) by Helen Hoang (2018) - This one was a 3-star for me. The interesting part for me was the description of the thought process of someone with Asperger's (I don't know if it's accurate, but I liked it). The whole love story was just blah. I would still recommend it.
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (2017) - 4 stars. I love the story very much. Only the plot was sometimes confusing. There were too many characters to keep track of.
A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3) by Sarah J. Maas (2017) - 4 stars. This is a given if you read the first two of this series. I liked the second book much more, so 1 star less for this one.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8) by John Tiffany (2016) - I was disappointed in this one. Not too bad, but it didn't live up to the Harry Potter series at all. 3 stars.
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover (2016) - I'm not too much into romance, but I liked this one. I gave it 4 stars, not sure why (It's been about 3 months and already I forgot).
The Princess Saves Herself in This One (Women Are Some Kind of Magic, #1) by Amanda Lovelace (2016) - Strong feminist poetry. 4 stars
A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas (2016) - 5 stars. My favorite book in this series. It made all my dreams come true.
The Hidden Oracle (The Trials of Apollo, #1) by Rick Riordan (2016) - 5 stars! I love Rick Riordan books. I love mythology. What else is there to say.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (2015) - A great mystery that kept me guessing till the end. 4 stars
Saga, Vol. 4 by Brian K. Vaughan (2015) - Saga is one of the best graphic novels ever in my opinion. 5 stars
The Martian by Andy Weir (2014) - 5 stars. One of the rare books where I first watched the movie and then read the book and still enjoyed both very much. I liked all the technical bits about surviving on Mars.
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn (2012) - So many plot twists. 4 stars
Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James (2012) - At the time of reading I gave this 4 stars, now it would probably be much less. Maybe 2 stars. The novelty of the first part is gone, and it became just a sappy romance.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (2012) - 5 stars! This one made me cry. It's so sad, especially in the end. But the characters are also bold, strong, sarcastic and very realistic.
A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin (2011) - A masterpiece. I wish the next book would be released already. 5 stars.

And what will I read for this prompt?
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas - I think this one.

OMG! This was a long one!
