Poetry: Sea of Strangers

Suspense/Thriller: Sharp Objects

Classics: Of Mice and Men

Children's/YA: Island of the Blue Dolphins

And a book I read in a book club that I think of fondly and often: Sky Burial: An Epic Love Story of Tibet

I read The Hobbit or There and Back Again for this one. I just finished it, in fact.

My favorite horror novels are 'Salem's Lot, The Descent or any of Susan Hill's short stories, like The Small Hand or The Man in the Picture. The Ghost Writer and The Little Stranger are excellent if you like suspenseful gothic fiction.

My absolute favorite books though are: A Trip to the Stars, which is hard to describe, but has a bit of everything. Also, The Shadow of the Wind for gorgeous storytelling.

I just finished Elevation, recommended by my future mother-in-law (I bought her the book for Christmas lol). It was a great, short read, but I expected nothing less from Stephen King!

If someone of my friends list suggested a book about 4 years ago, but I haven't read it yet-does that book qualify if I read it now?

I follow the author Gretchen Rubin and she's just begun a book club and the next book is "Small Fry" so I'm using her as my "friend"! =)

The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld. Very dark and brutal but poetic and fantastical.

I read Blindness on the recommendation of a book club friend. It was a worthwhile read, but I have the same reservations that I always seem to have whenever a "literary" author decides to go slumming in the genres.

I read Hunting Prince Dracula for this challenge because my best friend has been dying for me to read it and I did. She was right. It was amazing.

A friend from my book club suggested The Summer Country, which I'm actually waiting on since it's a new release.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder was recommended to a friend a while ago so I'm finally going to read it :-)

My mom has been raving about Circe for 2 months. I think I'll hijack her copy.

Oh god I just finished (and started) with the fire on high today and I'm absolutely in love with it!!

Yes! I listened to the audiobook but I need to get a physical copy asap!!

I recommend Words to the Wise, I love it and you might like it too if you like dark fantasy books

I am in a sort of book club for two. It's a friend and I, and we alternate suggesting books. She suggested The Member of the Wedding by Carson McCullers. I just completed it and it turns out it was an excellent suggestion.
