Melody (indiastarr) | 3 comments The book was read back in 98 but can't remember much about it.

It is about a group of people with some kind of bite/mole/wart on their face that just suddenly appears and then grows bigger and transforms into a mask. Once the mask falls off of each person's face they are either stunningly beautiful or hideous. It depends on if they're a good person deep down or not.

Also they are being led by a girl or a young woman to do something important.

Melody (indiastarr) | 3 comments I wish that was the book but that's not it

Ayshe | 4721 comments Are you sure? The Wikipedia article says: "Some people have been afflicted by tumor-like growths which appear only on the head and grow, merging into a fleshy helmet that limits breathing, speaking, and sight. This is commonly called “Job’s Mask”."

and: "Other people's Job's Masks begin falling off, too, and what lies beneath reflects their true souls – most beautiful and strong, but there are some monsters, too."

I just confirmed with the person I was finding the book for and she said that is correct. She just forgot some plot points. Also the Goodreads description was nothing like this one. Thank for all the help you guys

Sue Blaikie | 161 comments That Wiki entry is pretty comprehensive, much more detail than Goodreads, I didn’t remember a lot of it but the thing with the masks has stuck in my mind ever since I read it. I’m glad your book is found.
