Author Name - Piyusha Chandrakar Book Name - Jiya Re Publisher – Bluerose Publishers The heart of a person does not break due to love, but a word spoken by a person or a way of speaking can also hurt somebody to some extent. Jia-Re is not a love story, but it is the story of a girl Jiya, not everyone is accomplished, people are sometimes physically weak, sometimes emotionally and mentally weak. Jiya was physically weak but emotionally she tried to be strong until one day, a rejection sent her mental state spiralling down. That incident made her rethink about herself. She went into depression unable to answer why is was being rejected. The book is about whether Jia would go through all these questions and live her life in her own way or will she succumb to people's thinking. A wrong medication from a fake doctor renders Jiya blind at a young age. Her parents try their best to never make her realise her handicap, but when she starts going to school, her blindness is what gets picked on most. The story is small, but highlights society’s insensitivity blatantly and how badly it affects a person’s psyche. We don’t always think before we speak and don’t often realise how we end up hurting someone, but when there is blatant arrogance on our part regarding the sensitive issues of people, it’s a crime in itself. The story is different and an inspiring read. A blind girl’s struggle with depression is heart wrenching but as they say, there is gold at the end of the rainbow. My rating 4/5
