Women of the World discussion

Hello all,

Katie and I created this book club to share our passion for reading books by forgotten women with lots of other readers. We have put a lot of time and effort into creating book lists, maintaining threads, and ensuring that our monthly reading posts are up ahead of time. I have sent out a monthly newsletter to all members pointing out our chosen book and author for the forthcoming month, so that as many people as possible have the opportunity to join in with the conversation.

Unfortunately, the group has not quite turned out as we wished. Despite having a couple of hundred members, the interactions here are slow, and there are only a few members who have commented regularly.

It is with regret that we have decided to close the group as of the end of 2019. Neither of us have time to maintain it going forwards, as I will be in full-time work, and Katie in full-time study. The group is not a priority for us any longer.

If anyone wishes to take over moderation of the group, please let me know. As it stands, the group’s threads will remain in place in case anyone wishes to come to them in future, but we will not be having any group reads or monthly authors after December 2019.

We wish to extend our thanks to everyone who has joined the group, and especially those who have left comments since we began in July.

Like Geevee said, you both have done a great job and I as well have discovered some new authors and books. Perhaps someone will take the helm before the year is out.

Unfortunate news but not unexpected given the work involved and the lack of participation. As with Carrie and Geevee, I have discovered authors and works I would not otherwise have read, thanks to this group. Thank you for your efforts. Hopefully there can be some good book discussion before the year is out.
