I don't know if I would read another book from this author. Probably not.

My favorite part of the book was Armentia's relationship with her brother Abraham. If more of the book had focused on them, and maintained that quality of writing, I would have given this book a higher rating.

My least favorite part was the 5 chapter sermon (literally) in the middle of the book. I understand that this book is Christian fiction, but I prefer the variety in which religion flavors the story instead of BECOMES the story. I started to zone out in this section and could not regain my focus.

My favorite quote was
“We cried. The bones and dust of our fathers cried with us.”

I struggled to finish this book, so I was happy for an ending but for all the wrong reasons.
