We're now accepting nominations for November - December.

Please read the rules below for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

Only ONE nomination per person.

Please be sure to post the title and author.

Authors may not nominate their own books.

Please add your selections here. Once we get a sufficient number of titles, I will start up a poll. Each person may choose one title.

Remember, the authors should be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, or feature significant gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender characters in their work. Queer can be interpreted as broadly as we like.

Any genre (SF/fantasy, horror, romance, mystery), non-fiction, and classics are acceptable. Based on this criteria, we should have plenty of books to choose from. If you are nominating a title that is part of a series, please make sure to nominate the first book, unless we have already read it as a group.

The book discussion will start November 1 and continue through the end of December. This should give everyone sufficient time to obtain and read the book.

I still have to pick up a copy at the library. Of course, this depends on the poll results. If this book doesn't win for November, we can always do a buddy read.

Oh, there's another book with that title. Sure! That book seems interesting. I wonder if I can find a copy at the library. If not, I can look for a copy to buy.

Bent is not available at the library but I can either order it online or download it. No problem! I think this would be an interesting read.

I saw the play with Alan Cumming a few years back. Devastating but outstanding. Yes, the book seems to be a different Bent.

I bet Alan was stunning in that play!

He was! He starred opposite Chris New who was equally good. Chris New was in the film Weekend.

I loved Weekend! One of the best I've seen in a long time. Tom Cullen is such a dream.

I was promised Bent as part of Early Reviewers on Librarything but have yet to receive it! Hopefully it'll come in time for this group read, if it's chosen of course!

And I bet the play Bent was BRILLIANT with Alan Cumming and Chris New! The movie with Clive Owen is devastating.

Librarything has a smaller social group, so I think Goodreads is best for socializing and book reviews and figuring out what to read next. But Librarything has a better cataloging system and interface in my opinion, so I use that primarily for my personal collection. Librarything also has an Early Reviewers program where publishers will send out copies of newish books to review. Recent ones included Bent and The Paying Guests both mentioned here.

The Iron-Jawed Boy by Gay Nikolas Lee. This is book 1 in a YA fantasy/mythic fiction series. They are delightful. Better than Percy Jackson, IMO.

I second The Paying Guests. I'm 93% through. Love this book. It's utterly gripping.

This is certainly an interesting group of nominations.

Torn between the one I put up and one that I equally want to read!

I think the new novel by Sarah Waters would be good. I'm in the mood for something terribly English and historical.

But then again, the memoir looks good. I'd read both.
