Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) Well, not strictly, no. As I said, it's a weird western. Are non-traditional westerns frowned upon in this group?

Larry | 30 comments Probably not. The western seems to have transformed into everything BUT a western!

Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) Well, out of curiosity, how would you personally define a "Western?"

L. J. Martin (ljmartin) | 15 comments A quest set between 1830 and 1890 that's true to the times, but a million sub-genres. Sounds like your writing a western fantasy. Why do you need money to write? I'll send you box of pencils.

Yes, western fantasy. I feel like I've made that pretty clear. And I don't need money to write, I need the money to follow through with my goals to publish and reach as broad of an audience as I can.

But hey, if they're nice pencils, who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth?

Useful outline = "Quest 1830-90 true to times"

When starting to catalog here, I used the tag "western" frequently, then, having also started using an overlapping tag (HF-USA), I began to question myself the borders between historical fiction set in the USA and Westerns. Opted to have HF-USA to be only option.

For instance Dreams West
Dream West

Ashe Armstrong (ashearmstrong) Okay, well, I've removed the offending post. I'd delete the thread in full but I can't. Sorry to waste everyone's time.
