Describe your feelings about the events

Deanna Lambert, the main character, was caught in the backseat of a car with a boy... in middle school...by her father...with her older brother's best friend! If that doesn't scream soap opera and drama I don't know what does. I wouldn't even be able to look my father in the face after that and Deanna seems to be having that same problem. Not only has she been shunned by her family, she is getting it at school too.

She and her friend go to put in job applications and people that have graduated from her high school are recognizing her as the "school slu" I hope she can shake this bad girl persona and quick; though I don't know how she'll do that.

Tell about what happened in the story


A dude named Guy Montag is a fireman, but he is not the type of fireman you think. (This book was made in the 50s so he made 'the future' in the 90s so hang with me). The governement found out how to make fire proof houses, so they didn't need firemen anymore. Well, later they believe that books are useless and just are a waste of time. So they were abolished. Now firemen go around SETTING fire to the inside of the houses if you have a book.

The firemen are big scary guys that don't have a care in the world. Yet, one day Guy Montag meets a new neighbor of his. Her name was Clarisse McClellan. She put stuff into his head that were true, but everybody was oblivious to them because it was abolished. (Not just books were abolished, the gov. also banned rocking chairs, porches and gardens because they dont want people to sit around and talk).

Guy ends up having to go to a house to burn the contents because it had books in it, but while they were in the house trying to get the woman out, she set fire to it by herself. And she was still inside! Guy got curious why she would do that so he took a book without anyone knowing.
When he gets home he feels sick about letting that woman do that to herself. Then on top of that, he finds out that Clarisse got hit by a car and died. He later shows his wife other books he kept for years but has never looked at them...

Tell about what happened in the story:

Clay received tapes from Hannah Baker (the girl who committed suicide)a few days after she killed herself.On the tapes she explained her 13 reasons why she killed herself and the people that were involved in it.Clay is confused because he never did anything to hurt her in fact he liked her.In the box of tapes Hannah left a map to show them the places that the situations occurred,each place has a star on it.So then,Clay goes to the places as he listens to the tapes and starts to understand why she killed herself of course he didnt agree with her decision.Clay realized he wasn't really a reason why she killed herself he was more of a crush.

Clay remembers the last words Hannah said to him which were "I'm sorry".On the day Hannah killed herself at school she was acting how she use to when she was happy so clay new something was up and that night after coming home from school she took the pills.

Tell what happened in the story...


This book is about a girl named Lyra and her daemon, (It's sort of like the person's soul in animal form and can change into any animal that represents the human's feelings. Example: The person is nervous so the daemon turns into a mouse because they are timid. Plus only children's deamons change and once they become older, the daemons become more stable and stay in one form for the rest of their lives. It's sort of hard to explain.) Pantalaimon, try to rescue her friend, Roger, who was kidnapped by the Gobblers. Lyra and Roger spent most of their childhood in Oxford (Apparently the cities and towns are the same as our world but the inhabitants are different). The Gobblers are a secret organization that kidnap children and take them to the North. The reason why they take children because there is a particle called Dust and it attracts to adults and not children and they want to know why.

Eventually, along with some friends, Lyra find out that her uncle, Lord Asriel, was taken hostage from the polar bears. The polar bears are war bears and have their own government (monarchy). So now Lyra, and aeronaut, Lee Scorsby, and a outcast polar bear, Iorek Byrnison, are trying to find the Gobblers and free Lord Asriel.

Tell what happened in the story...

So far this story is about a boy(Clay)that has received a package. Inside this package are 7 tapes by Hannah Baker who 2 weeks earlier committed suicide. She explains that the tapes go by a list of people that have a part in the reasons why she took her life. She includes a map of places in their town were serious events occurred leading up to her death. Clay must follow the map and listen to all the tapes to find out how he was a part of her committing suicide. So far the first person on the list is one of Hannah's classmates, Justin Foley. He was also her first kiss which started a bad rumor that Hannah was a slu...which starts the snowball effect.

Tell How You Would React If You Were One Of The Characters In The Story:


If I was Conner I honestly would be heart-broken. To have your own parents sign a unwind form would just kill me inside. What kind of parent does that.I think its right for Conner to runaway , i know i would.I hope Conner doesn't get caught by the cops.I think it was a stupid act of his parents to leave the form laying around when there trying to "hide it" from him. Conner probably should have turned his cell phone off so no one could track him but usually you don't think straight in tough situations like that.

Well Conner was taking a ride in the back of a guys truck and the guy got pulled over by cops while Conner was asleep.When Conner woke up he realized the car had stopped so he went outside and saw the driver being handcuffed and the police and his dad were standing there , he realized he was tracked by his cellphone.What i think will happen next is Conner will run out the truck and find a place to hide so that the cops and his dad wont find him.I also think he will put his cell phone somewhere where he isn't so they go to the wrong place.

Describe your feelings about characters...

First off, I think Hannah Baker really should have cared less about what other people thought about her. I think it was really stupid to commit suicide just because of other people and drama. But it isn't entirely Hannah's fault, people really should pay attention to how the effect other peoples' lives.

I think Clay Jensen really must have not known anything he ever did to or did with Hannah could effect her so much(like most of the people in Hannah's life). I think Clay is just a regular teen with problems of his own. I think Clay is just another one Hannah's crazy "reasons" she committed suicide.

I think this meaningful beacause it shows that Iofur was tricked by Mrs.Coulter and now by Lyra. This prooves that Iofur really wanted to be human and got himself to be tricked. It was lucky for Lyra that Iofur could be tricked because no one can trick a bear.

Now Iofur has lost his trust in Mrs.Coulter and now places it with Lyra, his new "Daemon", for he really wanted a daemon. This eventually led to the event of Iorek Byrnison and Iofur Raknison fighting for the title of king of the bears.

Describe your feelings about the character...

Lyra Silvertongue: I think that she would become a very good actress since she can lie so easily and well. She's tough, stubborn, and smart; key things that help a person survive in tough situations. She also has the alethiometer (A truth telling device) which gives her the advantage against enemies. Lyra is one of my favorite characters because she can handle any situation the author throws at her.

Will Parry: He's cautious, sneaky, and logical. He's the character that prevents major screwups from happening. Will is the the one who figures out a plan that would work, and is weary around people. He would get a feeling if a person is untrustworthy and try to find an advantage against the person. Personally, I think Will is important as Lyra, if not more.

Describe a part that surprised you

Guy Montag comes home and doesn't feel very good after leaving that woman in the burning building. Millie(Guy's wife) suggests he should go out and drive as fast as he can down the highway, because it makes her feel better. She also said that it makes her feel even better if she hits a bunny! And even better than that if she hits a dog! What she said surprised the heck out of me. She is normally a quiet character, then she blurts this out, and I nearly jump 10 feet in the air(not really :p).

Tell about what happened in the book.

The entrance is in Tin Culvert Oklahoma. The city went through it's usual heat waves as it has for years. But one night a huge black hole opened up in the middle of the city. Strange shadows started crawling out of it and searching the city. They where searching for a man named Anstel.

During their hunt lighting hit everything it could find lighting it on fire instantly. Anstel was running away from the burning city to find a place to plant the seed that would determine wether the universe and all of it's inhabitants would survive. He found the perfect place to plant the seed and planted it. He told it to grow and as soon as he said it started growing and sprouting leaves.

The shadows then saw him running from them miles away. They chased him for many mile. He told Clover a magical being from the dream world foo to go and wait with the tree for a boy to come and grow to be wise enough to save everything. As he ran his old body gave it far from the tree and he died. The city was inhaled by fire that spelt ''It Is Over'' in the smoke rising from the city.

Describe a part that surprised you.

Eleven's father died 3 weeks before he was born. His mother died after giving birth to him. His mom's half sister was the only one to come and take him. But she was not happy at all to have to take care of a baby now.

Describe your feeling's about the characters

I feel bad that Eleven is mistreated by his aunt. She does not enjoy having him around her and makes her sleep out side. I feel angry towards his aunt. She said she would raise him but she miss treats him whenever she can.

My favorite part was when clover came into the story. Everything stopped being so sad. For once Eleven had a freind he could trust. And he is interesting to learn about.

Make a prediction about what will happen next

I think Cap will not like his new school at first and feel like an outsider. He will have someone ordered to lead him around the school his first day. He will probably gradually get used to it and then have to leave.

If I was Zach Powers I would be suprised to see a new kid at the school. Plus he looked like an even bigger loser then the biggest loser in the school. He would have to be the loser to be class president. It was so perfect.

Describe a part that surprised you

I was surprised when Rain told Cap he could not go back to Garland. He is old enough to look after himself but the police say he is too young to stay alone for several weeks. He is afraid of regular school and also confused. It was a whole new concept to him. Rain said he needed to learn to like it.

Hugh became freinds with Cap and told him all about being at school. I feel this is a good thing to do for someone who is new. Hugh was relieved that Cap was the new spitball target, not him. That is not as good as before.

Describe your feelings about the characters

Cap was nominated for class president but did not believe in government. He will not know what to do when he wins the election. He will probably get told what he has to do by the person that nominated him. It will probably be false directions though.

Day 1 Prediction
What I think will happen at the end of the book is what I will predict first. In 1917 after the U.S. got in the war everybody in the class will die. They will be killed one by one like Kantorek who died earlier. I think it will be Tjaden to die first

Day 2 Describe a part that surprised you

I was very surprised with some of the book. It had parts predictable too. A surprising part was when Detering shot those horses. I would have given more thought to it before acting.

Day 3 Describe your favorite part

My favorite part to date was when the bombardment started. It surprised me to hear the causality count of 5 dead 8 injured. She gave a realistic description of war then. The trench warfare had most casualties due to aircraft unreliability.

Day 4 Write a letter to the author

I would write a letter to the author if necessary. I live in Florida we do not learn American history in our schools till 10th or 11th grade. They still do not teach about the first world war. Minimal attention goes to the second war. They do not understand that this war was a difficult one to be fought. It needs more attention.

Day 5 Summarize

What happened was Detering shot horses that were injured to take them out of their misery. They group starts to build another trench, this is Paul's least favorite task. They have Himmelstoss come back and gets beat up by the group. Himmlestoss comes back again to put Tjaden in open arrest for disorderly conduct and succeeds.

Tell how you would react if you were one of the characters in the story...

If I were one of the characters in this book that received the tapes, I would react just like the actual characters do. I would feel hurt that someone thought that I was part to blame for their death. I would wonder how i could effect someone so much, they would kill themselves. I would feel extremely guilty for every mean thing I ever said to any person, in fear that they are capable of doing such a horrible thing to themselves.

Describe your favorite part...

My favorite part was when Will gained the subtle knife. Now he is able to open and close portals to different worlds. How he got it was very dramatic. He had to fight a lunatic alone. I would of paniked if it was me. He payed the price however. His two fingers are severed from his hand. That must really be awful.

When Will found out that Lyra was gone, he was shocked and didn't know what to do. I probably would of been shoked, too. My only friend is gone and I'm alone in a different world where angels fly around. Yeah, I would of freaked, too. I wouldn't know what I would do.

So far my favorite part was in cassette 1 side a. It was the part Hannah got her first kiss. It was like the perfect first kiss ever. I thought it was pretty romantic for being on a playground.

I think Hannah is going to have some boy troubles. For one it's Valentines Day. Nothing so far has gone in Hannah's favor so it can't be good. I think the snowball will keep getting bigger.

If I were Guy, I'd be acting exactly the way he is. Wondering how books are so bad that they must be burned. I would have quit my job, went to a nice country area where I don't have any neighbors for miles around, and then read my books.

Guy Montag: I thihnk he is a very clueless & lost man. The poor guy just wants to read, but they won't let him. ON top of that, he likes yelling at people. I don't like him that much because of that.

I thought it was surprising to see Leven almost give up. Sabines shadows slipped into his head and told him that his journey was pointless. And they where so powerful they made him believe for a bit that there was no point.

If i was faced with crossing the atlantic ocean i would use my powers to manipulate the future to let us on a plane. Instead of driving a car over a frozen
path that your friend makes. You could get many more advantages from flying across the atlantic.

Lev is a boy and his parents tell him he has the blessing of being a tithe.A tithe is just another word for unwind.Lev is having 2nd thoughts about being a tithe so he goes and he talks to Pastor Dan.Pastor Dan tells him it is what his parents chose for him todo in life.

My Favorite part so far is when Lev first meets Connor.Conner grabs Lev out of the car and holds him "hostage".I think it was my favorite part because it was really random and out of the blue.I liked how when Lev got hit with the tranquillizer,Conner pulled him out of the street.

Tell about what happened in the story...
Guy Montag, turned in the books that he had to Captain Beatty who through it into the fire. The alarms start sounding and they suit up, all while Guy is feeling uneasy. They drive down the street and Beatty tells Montag that this is it, it's time to burn another house. Montag then says something that was at the end of the chapter and I couldn't stop. He said,"Why should I? We pulled up to my house."
Beatty gives him a flamethrower and he starts burning his house, when he was done, he is supposed to be put in jail. Then Beatty knocks Montag in the head and out comes the communication device Montag was using to talk to Faber. Beatty was going to trace it and arrest that person to, but Montag could not let that happen. So he took the flamethrower and burned Beatty alive...
From then he went on the run. He eventually gets away meets other runners from years ago. They all have learned to have a photographic memory so they can keep books in their mind. Which is the safest place now.

My favorite part was when Montag took out the Mechanical Hound with a flamethrower. It still shot spikes into his ankle, but he lived and the hound didn't.

Describe a part that surprised you...
When Montag took the flamethrower and burned Beatty alive. That surprised me, I mean they were friends. But after that communication device got taken it was the only thing Montag could do.

Why did Montag have to burn Beattly? Didn't he know what the consequences were? Couldn't he have like knocked him out so that he could get the chip? Why when he ran, didn't Montag take the flamethrower with him?

I think Montag will takes his new buddies and go looking for Mildred(his wife who ran away after he started reading books). He kept on uttering her name while he was on the run. He must still love her and want her back.
