I thought 'Monster' was quite good, with the right amount of detail and background.
I really liked that book K.A. It was exactly the right amount of detail and background without becoming repetitive.

I have read Monster by Steve Jackson and really liked it. Bogeyman is on my 'to read' list but I have added a few more by him now. :)
