"Inspired by the Cervantes classic, Sam DuChamp, mediocre writer of spy thrillers, creates Quichotte, a courtly, addled salesman obsessed with television, who falls in impossible love with a TV star. Together with his (imaginary) son Sancho, Quichotte sets off on a picaresque quest across America to prove worthy of her hand, gallantly braving the tragicomic perils of an age where “Anything-Can-Happen”. Meanwhile his creator, in a midlife crisis, has equally urgent challenges of his own."

Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don't Know de Malcolm Gladwell (10.09.2019)
"The basis of the book is Gladwell’s current obsession: the Truth-Default Theory. It’s not his theory; that distinction goes to psychologist Tim Devine. But the idea is that we’re bad at detecting when people are lying as “our operating assumption is that the people we’re dealing with are honest”. It leads to some uncomfortable passages, as this is probably Gladwell’s darkest book to date. He explores how child abusers are able to go unpunished for years, even when there are obvious doubts about their conduct. And it’s usually because, he argues, there are not enough doubts to overcome our default to the truth we want to hear."
The Testaments, de Margaret AtwoodIn this brilliant sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, acclaimed author Margaret Atwood answers the questions that have tantalized readers for decades.
When the van door slammed on Offred's future at the end of The Handmaid's Tale, readers had no way of telling what lay ahead for her--freedom, prison or death.
With The Testaments, the wait is over.
Margaret Atwood's sequel picks up the story more than fifteen years after Offred stepped into the unknown, with the explosive testaments of three female narrators from Gilead.
"Dear Readers: Everything you've ever asked me about Gilead and its inner workings is the inspiration for this book. Well, almost everything! The other inspiration is the world we've been living in." --Margaret Atwood
Ati vazut serialul?
Bunaaa! Ma bag prima data in seama pe aici...Asa ca sper ca fac propunerea cum trebuie...Tocmai a aparut `The Fountains of Silence` a Rutei Sepetys si as vrea sa o recomand.

Confessions of a Bookseller de Shaun Bythell"Do you have a list of your books, or do I just have to stare at them?"
Shaun Bythell is the owner of The Bookshop in Wigtown, Scotland. With more than a mile of shelving, real log fires in the shop and the sea lapping nearby, the shop should be an idyll for bookworms.
Unfortunately, Shaun also has to contend with bizarre requests from people who don't understand what a shop is, home invasions during the Wigtown Book Festival and Granny, his neurotic Italian assistant who likes digging for river mud to make poultices.
The Diary of a Bookseller (soon to be a major TV series) introduced us to the joys and frustrations of life lived in books. Sardonic and sympathetic in equal measure, Confessions of a Bookseller will reunite readers with the characters they've come to know and love.
Excerpts from the diary:
Saturday 9 May
A very elderly man, walking using two sticks to help him get about, bought a copy fo a book called "Advanced Sex: Explicit Positions for Explosive Lovemaking"
Monday 13 April
A man approached me as I was pricing up stock and asked "I wonder if you can help me, I'm looking for self-help books." I'm almost certain that he failed to see the irony, so I asked him what sort of self-help books he was looking for, to which he replied "I don't know".
Sustin "Quichotte" si "Talking to Strangers". Propun:"The Dutch House" - Ann Prachett
"Where the Crawdads Sing" - Delia Owens (tradusa si in romana)
As inlocui-o cu alta deja tradusa si in romana - "Dosar Permanent" (Permanent Record) de Edward Snowden.
