I've begun looking for this -- as I want to read it next. Had to settle for the novel by Picardie meanwhile but am already hooked only a very short way into it. Julius is at the top of my priority "to find" list though.
Dottie, I found Picardie´s book quite dissapointed but I am still looking for a good biography on Dame Du Maurier. I just got My Cousin Rachel and The Parasites.
I have to chime in and say while Laura didn't care for Picardie's book (and our tastes are similar) that I really liked it and I read 'Captivated...' by Piers Dudgeon afterward and found that to be very interestingas well.
I do want to read both of those books when I get a chance. Looking forward to Laura's thoughts on the Parasites. Very different.Speaking of Julius since its so controversial (MC is a most unlikeable and detestable Jew) and not PC I wonder if any publisher will want to touch it in this day and age.

LOL, I just commented to Barb about how much I am enjoying "Daphne' by Picardie. I have the book 'Captivated' and am anxious to get into it.I finally found a tattered copy of Julius at the thift store, so will be happy to read along if we can all get a copy.
Btw, has anyone read the book about Daphne by Margaret Forster? I'm tempted to buy it.
It's not going to be a book for everyone, but it is fascinating to see the kind of character a 20 something young Miss from the 30's could have written. You should be able to get it ILL, I know mine had a copy.
I did care about Julius, a lot. And I felt DDM was extraordinarily perceptive in writing about this character, who started a chain of coffeehouses way before Starbucks, who understood he belonged to a secret city way before the Holocaust, who worshipped his father to the point of emulation. But I am much more amazed at DDM as a writer. She was so good as if she had the keys to some other secret city herself.
