Personally, I disagree with GR policy to keep the name a book was first published under as primary author on all editions (not just in the case of trans authors), but since it is what it is, librarians who purposely remove the name act against policy.
I flagged one edit, but I won't be re-adding the name ;)
I know I can re-add the old name, but I prefer to leave this to someone else. Maybe a revision of the manual is in order.I agree with the policy that it is necessary to keep the old name for old editions of the book. That is the name you need to use when searching for places to buy the book.
My only disagreement is that the name on the cover needs to be the first name listed because that makes it impossible to combine multiple editions of the same book published under different names.
Sabrina Calvo is one of my favorite authors, so I have made edits and additions of her work in the past, but I don't want to get into an edit war with other librarians over this name issue and will leave it for braver souls.

(If the policy was changed to the current author name being primary on all editions, that would work the same way.)

A librarian has recently removed the older name (author id 759111) from all the works that originally used that name and replaced it with Sabrina Calvo (author id 19536497).
From my understanding of the librarian manual this is not allowed. The original name used on the book cover must be maintained. On the other hand, it is a sensitive issue for trans people, so I personally avoid adding the older name.
I will leave this as an issue for the super-librarians to resolve.
