I just finished The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas By John Boyne. #AntiBullyReadsand now I'm reading the five people you meet in Heaven By Mitch Albom.
I might stay up till after 00.00 just so I can read a couple of pages to get started! I will be reading Wonder!
I actually read Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, and I really liked the book. It was told in the perspective of the Bully (the typical popular high school senior girl) that died on one of the most important nights for their high school career and was re-living her last day over and over again. She eventually realized how horrible she was to so many people and she managed to redeemed herself in the end. It was really sad and it even brought me to tears. I really enjoyed reading it. I recommend that all of you read this book.I plan to read A Thousand Cuts, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Thirteen Reasons Why.
I plan to read Wonder and then Smile this week. I need to plan a third for if I have extra reading time. :D
I'm planning on reading wonder and the Julian chapter, Matilda, please forgive me Leonard peacock, and everybody sees the ants.

It's one of my favourites, I hope you love it! :D

Just finished the truth about Alice and this was a 3 star book for me mainly because I felt it just skimmed the surface of emotions and ideas could have been extended and made it more powerful. An ok read though. Moving on to the hate lost by Jennifer brown now which is about a school shooting so hoping it is not too harrowing. Hope everyone else is getting on well :)
Starting out with Burn for Burn. I really wanted to read Geek Girl first but my bookoutlet order hasn't arrived yet.
I just finished what I was reading; The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson (nothing to do with bullying, just what I happened to be reading). Four out of five stars, if you are wondering. It was really good, but just not quite as good as Speak or Wintergirls. Now I am in a bit of a quandary as to what to read next because, as far as I can tell, none of the books I own and haven't already read have anything to do with bullying!
Some of the books I am choosing between for reading next are:
Splintered by A.G. Howard, The Girl With All The Gifts by M. R . Carey, We Are All Conpletley Beside ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler and possibly We Need To Talk About Kevin (not sure if I am in the right frame of mind...)
Thoughts? Suggestions? In paticular, do any of the above books have anything to do with bullying that I am not aware of?
Just finished hate list by Jennifer brown. This book made me cry and I'm not a cryer. Not big bawling my eyes out crying but crying none the less. It is a five star book for me I feel emotional drained after reading it and might need a nap now. On to Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe next :)
I was up early into the morning finishing up a book I was reading. I decided to start Wonder by R. J. Palacio and post a picture of what I was reading on Instagram. I happened to stumble upon this readathon at the perfect time-early this morning. I am halfway through Wonder now and absolutely love this story! I put a couple anti-bullying books on hold at my local library. I am hoping they will be ready to pick up by tomorrow because I am sure I will breeze through the rest of Wonder tonight.
Natulcien wrote: "I started 'Wonder' this morning and I'm already loving it :)"I am also reading that book. It is a great read!
I'm reading Nineteen Minutes right now and loving it. I'm learning a lot about bullying from this book.
Just finished re-reading Speak (198p.), I countinue to love it and have hope for it. My next read will be "Carrie" but I have a lot of homework to do so I will start that one tomorrow!Good luck to everybody
I have finished... A Monster Calls, Falling into place, They all fall down, & Blubber. and Now I am reading Thirteen Reasons Why.
I read the entirety of Thirteen Reasons Why yesterday, which I'm very happy about! Such an interesting book, I recommend.
I'm starting with "Loser" by Jerry Spinelli and so far it has captured me. A beautiful and heart-wrenching story. Only a short read, but at 3/4 finished I can still highly recommend!
I started Dear Bully this morning and I like it so far! I also want to read Everybody sees the ants and Wonder.
I started Butter this morning and Im really enjoying it...enjoying it in the sense that parts make me uncomfortable, parts make me sad and parts make me think, which is what this is all about.

I just started Butter too! Loving the writing style so far, I think I'm going to get sucked in pretty fast.

I sat down this morning with my tea and tried to write out what I had learned about bullying from my books. I'd encourage every one to do the same; I think it was a really helpful exercise to put it down into words. xo.Here's mine:
"What I've learned so far:
Bullying is complicated. Kids who are bullied learn to internalize the attacks, so they end up blaming themselves. Teachers and parents do little to stop the attacks. This is in some part because the bullies are “good kids”: well-liked, star athletes, good grades, etc., and they are hesitant to punish them. It is also in part because kids cannot be watched every hour of the day. Whether it is on the playground, in the halls or on a bus, all children are unsupervised at some point during the day. This is when the worst of it happens."
Today I started and finished "The Weight of Water" by Sarah Crossan. It's a quick read, and even thought I'm much older than the protagonist and I'm not in school anymore, it made me reflect on my past and my experiences being a 'new' girl in a thirteen year old children classroom, but also on my own attitute towards 'new' or 'different' people.I really, really enjoyed it.
I'm really busy with university work at the moment so I have no time to read! I'm planning on finishing The Picture of Dorian Grey as soon as I can so I can get started on Eleanor and Park but nothing is happening at the moment.Really sorry, Sarah. I love the reason for this reading week too! I promise to update if I start it :) xx
Last night I read Everybody Sees the Ants by S.S. Kingtoday I barely read I'll Give You the Sun. I actually read 13 reasons why and Forgive me leonard peacock during the 24in48 readathon
Hey! I just wanted to drop by and post what I'm planning to read this week. I want to reread Speak and Thirteen Reasons Why. I read Eleanor & Park yesterday. Now, today I just went to the library and picked up Lolita, Jerk, California, Everybody Sees the Ants, A Monster Calls and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe but I'm not positive that book counts? I'm not sure how many I'll be able to read, but I'm gonna try my best :)
I've just finished A Monster Calls, it was a 5 of 5 stars for me and now I'm reading Everybody Sees the Ants.
