Charlotte walked through the grass slowly, the cool feeling rubbing against her legs and bare feet. Her long brown hair was pulled back into braid and her brown eyes were ever so slightly narrowed into a glare.
After unpacking all of his belongings Kayden decided to explore the place that he'd be staying for the next three to four months. The mansion was old and rustic, and something he'd taken great interest in- especially due to the Catacylsts suspicious history. So far, though, everything seemed to be less the ordinary, and rather mundane. Trudging through the grass he broke through the tree line of the forest before happening open the beautiful sight of the falls. After taking a moment to marvel he continued forward, narrowing his eyes as he saw a figure in the distance. "Didn't expect to find anyone out here." He murmured softly under his breath.
Charlotte turned when she felt another presence. One delicate eyebrow rose in confusion and her brown eyes widened a bit at her realization, "He can see me? And he's not scared?" She asked herself. Charlotte continued to walk through the grass, moving towards the water slowly.
Tough most people knew this was a situation in which Kayden would normally retreat he decided to continue forwards. As he got closer to her, and the water, the vision of her began to flicker. Rubbing at his eyes he opened them each time to find she was still there. Surely she had to be real. Decided his silent approach might come off as weird he paused, waving his hand in greeting. "Hello there."
"Hello." Charlotte said simply. She was still confused as to why this man wanted to talk to her. Maybe he didn't know. Charlotte sighed softly before facing the man, "My name is Charlotte. What would your name be?" She asked softly. Charlotte could feel the wind pass through her and it only hit her full on every other minute. The small girl still had a hard time trying to keep herself in full form or at least slightly visible.
Kayden remained to keep an eye on her small figure, curious as to why she was out here all by herself. Leaning back against one of the few trees he remained unsure of why he'd approached her. "Kayden. Kayden Kalister." He told her, his English accent apparent when he spoke. "Are you here on holiday too?" He asked, knowing in other words he meant vacation, but he resorted to his own way of speaking.
Charlotte nodded slowly, "Um... yes. I came with a few friends." She said softly. She tried to sound as pleasant and friendly as possible. It was a bit hard for the her though. After so many years of being mean, it's hard to resort back to old ways, "It is nice to meet you Kayden." Charlotte said kindly.
He couldn't help but to catch on to her hesitation, and he wondered briefly if he was coming off as some strange man wanting to take advantage of her. He came to the conclusion this wasn't the case. "Nice to meet you too." Lauren responded with an attempt at a smile. Just as soon as he spoke he found himself at a crossroads, suddenly unsure of what to say. "Have you heard the rumours about the manor?" He asked, instead, looking over to the horizon. The place the two currently resided in was just over a mile or so away.
Charlotte nodded once again, "Yes, I have heard of them. I think they are rather interesting actually." She said with a hint of bitterness in her voice. She knew fully well they were not rumors only because her death is a rumor. Her chocolate eyes hardened at the thought before she put on a small smile, "Have you heard the one about this place?" She asked.
Due to both of their lack of elaboration he could only pretend to assume they were speaking of the same thing. "Why so bitter?" He asked, biting his tongue. Naturally he wasn't such a curious person, but he'd travelled here for answers so he mind as well ask some questions. "No, what are they?" He rose an eyebrow as his eyes were drawn back towards the water.
Charlotte glared slightly, keeping her mouth shut before she said anything. Her eyes followed his towards the water, "A long time ago, one of the Catacylst men drowned himself here. He was upset I believe." She explained, glaring slightly at the water as a small boy poked his head out of the water, "And another time, a small boy broke his neck and drowned as well." Charlotte told him, glancing up at him.
Kayden pretended to be oblivious to her glare. His socialization skills were horrible and he hoped his prying didn't bother her, but he had no time for hesitation. Worrying his bottom lip his eyes remained on the blue water. "Did the first man.. did he kill himself?" He asked, his voice unusually soft. Paying too much attention to the water he could not see what she did.
"Yes, sadly." Charlotte informed. She faced him, "If I remember what I heard, his wife was cheating on him, and I think he caught them here. That's why he killed himself here." She said. She noticed his change of tone and frowned a bit.
Having been on the brink of life for an awfully long time Kayden couldn't begin to imagine why someone would throw something so fragile away. It astounded him. Even hearing the rest of her explanation; it offered him no closure. "That's a shame." Was all he said before looking back up at her, reminded of his fiance.
Charlotte nodded, "It is still a beautiful place though." She mumbled, lifting her arm towards a ray of sun. Her chocolate eyes stared at it and her hand was enveloped in light. However, this only caused her form to flicker and leave her semi transparent. Charlotte tensed and pulled her arm away quickly.
Just as thoughts of Cara entered his mind they faded away. It was simply for his health that he didn't spend his time thinking of her. "Agreed." He murmured. His eyes travelled from her shoulder up towards her fingertips. "Wha-" He cut himself off. The girls skin had appeared to be translucent, but now it was seeable. Full, solid, and there. Kayden could only blame it on his temporary blindness from the sun.
Charlotte was still tense as she looked at Kayden. She was unsure of his reaction and was still having a hard time trying to stay visible. She lowered her arm slowly and gave it a subtle once over. She was still visible so maybe he didn't notice. Charlotte let out a sigh as she offered him a small smile.

These beautiful falls have a tragic past. In 1897, Benjamin Cataclyst caught his wife with another man. He was overwhelmed with despair, and drowned himself in the falls. In 1902, some young boys were playing around the falls, when one fell and broke his neck. People who visit here experience shadows, sometimes even voices and apparitions.
