This series just keeps getting better! The multi-layered plot and the complex characters really held my attention, and the amazing details, so well researched, make the story ring true (yes, even as a fantasy).
Despite the healing powers frequently used, characters die, and those who are healed still take a long time to recover. Battles are messy, chaotic affairs. Plans are constantly needing revision. And so many people and creatures are not as they seem.
I enjoyed the first book but this one really got me hooked!

I was hooked too! I am looking forward to starting the last book of the series AND buying the next series. I enjoyed all the different creatures of the wild, the lady healers, and the adventures. I LOVE the Red Knights attitude, commitment to his boys and all around bravery. He's not a dipstick and he's actually quite intelligent.
Also, I really enjoyed Queen Desderata (sorry if that's not how you spell it), she would be the kind of queen I would have wanted to lead our people.
