Calathea | 6034 comments ...just preparing the living room for our next release party...

Watch this topic, more info in the next days.

Have a cookie while we wait.

Susinok | 5205 comments Woo hoo! A co-worker always gives me some VERY spiked eggnog.

Mtsnow13 | 1115 comments Yum.. I know none of these are good for me, but I'm bringing my favorites I made as a kid: all homemade!
Mexican wedding cookies/Russian tea cakes
Jam thumbprints
Buttercream frosted sugar cookies
Gingerbread cookies
Springerle (my mom had the roller)
And snicker doodles

message 4: by Mtsnow13 (new) - added it

Mtsnow13 | 1115 comments Oh! And can't forget to have some mulled cider!

Susinok | 5205 comments MT your favorites are the same as my favorites! Mom made some wonderful raspberry sandwich cookies out of ground almonds that were SOO GOOD! And all the rest.

I have not had Springerle since I was a kid. I have a press (not roller) but haven't made them.

Idamus A launch party??? I don't have time for a launch party :'(

I'll....I'll try to sneak in and say hi

I LOVE snicker doodles. And cider.

Haldis | 1288 comments Ok, I made fruitcake. Now before anyone can say anything, I Do Not use candied fruit. I use dried berries. And then I soak it in cognac. My fruitcake has won our friendly family fruitcake competition the last two years. So enjoy.

Calathea | 6034 comments I still try to find some time to make my own gingerbread... probably not going to happen this year.

Mtsnow13 | 1115 comments Haldis, I've actually had some decent homemade fruitcake in my past..not the brickyard tin passed around like a white elephant..the one you made sounds delish! My mom made something similar called a 'friendship cake' soaked in orange juice and powdered sugar. VERY dense but rather yummy.

She also used to have a crock of Rumtopf on the counter in the winter :-)

Thank you for setting up the topic, Calathea! It looks great here... I like the way you hung up the Christmas lights! I have the Christmas tree out on the patio... somebody give me a hand and we'll drag it inside? Do you think it's too early to start decorating it tonight?

So exciting! Where did you put Josh? Is he still writing?

Johanna | 18130 comments Mod
I wouldn't say "no" to eggnog...

Ije the Devourer of Books | 1999 comments Yay!! Launch party. Count me in!!

Beer Chugger

I actually don't drink but this is what I would do if I did drink :)

I'm all for decorating the tree! Let me get the glass ornaments from the attic and we're set to go. Please, be careful on that ladder. No accidents before Christmas, I say...

As for Josh, last time I saw him he was enjoying the rain (and hopefully he'll stay inside with the temperatures like they are).

Actually the temperature is quite nice, at least in the Bay Area. It's rainy and windy but 61 degrees F...what is that? 16 17C?

Calathea wrote: "As for Josh, last time I saw him he was enjoying the rain (and hopefully he'll stay inside with the temperatures like they are)."

Oh, that explains why he looked like he'd gone swimming with his clothes on — he's simply enjoying rain. ;-)

Oh. My. God. Who brought a whole bag full of glitter? Anne!!!

Johanna | 18130 comments Mod
We better make some more eggnog — I have a hunch that a few of Josh's friends might drop by. I heard him talking on the phone a minute ago... Do you guys know anybody called LB?

LOL, you know me too well. Yes, I'm a magpie. I love everything shiny.

And hey, what would a Christmas tree be without some glitter?

By the way, what do you guys want us to put on the very top of that tree? The Santaur?

Sabine | 3041 comments I am cough home from work, open cough the cupboard door cough and inhale ca. a whole bag of glitter.
I bring cough champagner, almond biscuits and cough fingerfood like brie, appenzeller, cough spicey meatballs and gummi bears! Cough!

I think Santaur belongs at the bottom of the tree. Way in the back. Where the cats can get him. ;D

Maybe we can find something cooking related to put on the top of the tree, since that seems to be the theme of the story. *goes to rummage in Josh's kitchen cupboards*

Oooh, I love banana bread! I found this box of sweaters in Josh's attic: http://www.tipsyelves.com/mens-christ... while I was looking for ornaments. I think there's enough for everyone to wear one. I'll hand them out as people come in.

Alison | 4756 comments Wow, this party is starting off with a bang! So many treats! So much activity! So many amazing sweaters! I've brought more wine for mulling. That wonderful stuff always goes fast! And some cheese and crackers and olives. Here, I'll untangle some more Christmas lights. I'm already covered in glitter. That didn't take long.
