Woo hoo! A co-worker always gives me some VERY spiked eggnog.

Yum.. I know none of these are good for me, but I'm bringing my favorites I made as a kid: all homemade!
Mexican wedding cookies/Russian tea cakes
Jam thumbprints
Buttercream frosted sugar cookies
Gingerbread cookies
Springerle (my mom had the roller)
And snicker doodles

Oh! And can't forget to have some mulled cider!

MT your favorites are the same as my favorites! Mom made some wonderful raspberry sandwich cookies out of ground almonds that were SOO GOOD! And all the rest.

I have not had Springerle since I was a kid. I have a press (not roller) but haven't made them.

A launch party??? I don't have time for a launch party :'(

I LOVE snicker doodles. And cider.

Ok, I made fruitcake. Now before anyone can say anything, I Do Not use candied fruit. I use dried berries. And then I soak it in cognac. My fruitcake has won our friendly family fruitcake competition the last two years. So enjoy.

I still try to find some time to make my own gingerbread... probably not going to happen this year.

Haldis, I've actually had some decent homemade fruitcake in my past..not the brickyard tin passed around like a white elephant..the one you made sounds delish! My mom made something similar called a 'friendship cake' soaked in orange juice and powdered sugar. VERY dense but rather yummy.

Thank you for setting up the topic, Calathea! It looks great here... I like the way you hung up the Christmas lights! I have the Christmas tree out on the patio... somebody give me a hand and we'll drag it inside? Do you think it's too early to start decorating it tonight?

As for Josh, last time I saw him he was enjoying the rain (and hopefully he'll stay inside with the temperatures like they are).

Actually the temperature is quite nice, at least in the Bay Area. It's rainy and windy but 61 degrees F...what is that? 16 17C?

Oh, that explains why he looked like he'd gone swimming with his clothes on — he's simply enjoying rain. ;-)

Maybe we can find something cooking related to put on the top of the tree, since that seems to be the theme of the story. *goes to rummage in Josh's kitchen cupboards*

Are there any cute snowmen toppers? Or maybe a snowflake?

I will bring my tipsy nutcracker (i love them; this year, in a store nearby, they have a pink lady nutcracker...which is weird); i think he and the Santaur will make great friends after all that eggnog ;-) and i will make banana bread with chocolate chips!

Oooh, I love banana bread! I found this box of sweaters in Josh's attic: http://www.tipsyelves.com/mens-christ... while I was looking for ornaments. I think there's enough for everyone to wear one. I'll hand them out as people come in.

Wow, this party is starting off with a bang! So many treats! So much activity! So many amazing sweaters! I've brought more wine for mulling. That wonderful stuff always goes fast! And some cheese and crackers and olives. Here, I'll untangle some more Christmas lights. I'm already covered in glitter. That didn't take long.

The sweaters look amazing through the swirling cloud of glitter that Sabine let loose.

Look I gathered all the penis confetti from the last couple of release parties to make a lovely festive garland for the tree. XD
