Cathy Before any of my friends get all excited about my 5 star rating and rush off to read this book, just realize this is a kid's book. Tweens probably. But, I found it a fun and fast read - with a female hero!

Stephen Older guy here. Bloody Jack books are great light reads for anyone and are just as fun as Stephanie Plum (Janet Evanovich books). Very enjoyable and steeped in a good sense of history.

I did manage to send the complete box set to my mother to pass down to my grand niece, who I heard liked to read, via her mother who both read them first before passing them on. All three gave great reviews, though the grand niece has likely been left wondering whose this crazy great uncle that's living down in Texas.

Personally whenever I hear anyone mentioning Meyer in context of authors I look up expectantly until I realize they're talking about Myer (Harry Potter) at which point I sigh and look away.

For a male version I'd recommend George MacDonald Fraser with his Harry Flashman Series, though the hero is in all reality a complete cad and coward, yet you still find yourself rooting for him anyway as be bounces around the world in each new adventure. Still great fun and written for a slightly older audience. Meanwhile I do wonder if Meyer had these books in mind when he gave us Jackie.
