Welcome to Fire Buddy Read Discussion thread! This thread officially opens on February 15th and anyone can join at any time. Please keep in mind that spoilers are allowed in this thread but only up to the group's current reading place. Do not spoil the book if you've read further than the group. Any extra days can be used to catch up!

Each week we will be reading by chapters. The suggested Buddy Read discussion schedule is as follows:

Week of 2/15
February 15: Prologue + Part 1 Chapters 1-7

Week of 2/16
February 16: Chapters 8-14
February 17: Chapters 15-16 + Part 2 Chapters 17-21
February 18: Chapters 22-25 + Part 3 Chapters 26-28

Ch 1-7
(view spoiler)[ Fire is an interesting character so far. I liked how she put herself at risk to help the 50 get through to the tunnels. I feel for her seeing Smalls all torn up :(
Archer is a bit of an ass. Too controlling/overbearing for my tastes.
I like the dynamic and tension with Nash and Brigan and look forward to more interactions between them and Fire. Also curious to see the Leck storyline play out. (hide spoiler)]

Totally get that! I'm juggling like 6 BR's so I won't be rushing by any means haha! Took last night off work for a much needed date night so I haven't read in the past 24+ hours.

Thoughts up to Chapter 7

(view spoiler)[ So far I'm intrigued! But yeah I agreee with you - Fire is interesting but Archer is too overbearing/controlling for my taste as well - seems like a Tamlin too! haha
And I'm looking forward to seeing the dynamic particularly with Brigan unfold! (hide spoiler)]

Through ch 14

(view spoiler)[ I'm listening to the audio at work so its fully possible I missed something.. but Brigan seems to have made a total flip flop here on his interactions with Fire.. Before he was standoffish and now he seems too friendly. I'm confused. (hide spoiler)]

Up to Chapter 14

(view spoiler)[I'm really getting annoyed with Archer, but I also kind of feel sorry for him..

I get what you mean by flip-flop but I think his turning point in his interactions with her was around the time she got herself injured - or shortly after - at least when she wasn't around Archer? They're so going to end up together haha

But I'm wondering how Leck fits into all of this?

I did not expect Brigan to have a daughter! But I'm enjoying this dynamic!

So my oldest is down with the flu which means home as been busy dealing with taking care of her.. I'm a bit behind (but honestly, when am I not?!)!

Ok so I kind of finished the book - I couldn't put it down!

And there you go the shift in his behaviour has been explained! He changed when he found out she killed Cansrel!

and OMG Tess is Fire's grandma?? that one I did not see coming haha

Baby Leck is horrible - but at least now we know how he got back to the Seven Kingdoms

Finally finished! Loved all the twists that were revealed in the last quarter of this!

Yaaaay ! How did you like it overall? I think I preferred it to Graceling!

I do think I liked it better than Graceling. I really like Fire's character a lot.

I'm going to need a couple weeks to get my brain straightened out with everything going on but mid-March?
