Gabby Castillo For my fourth novel I chose to read “Far from You” by Tess Sharpe. This was a book that caught my eye from the very beginning when we had to pick a novel for this section. I knew that this book was an LGBTQ novel but this novel came with a twist and turning into a murder mystery. I thought this book was so interesting because there were multiple things that were happening, from figuring herself out to dealing with a drug addiction to trying to figure out the murder of her best friend. While this book has references to the past and the present it is very easy to understand what is happening and in what time it is happening, which Sharpe did a very good job with that. I think that I enjoyed this book so much because it showed very good character development in my opinion. Especially Sophie, I think that she grew so much in the course of the story. Sophie started out with it rough, and she went through so many traumatic experiences, which led her to relapsing and going back to her old ways of lying and going behind people’s backs. However, you see how much she grows throughout this story, and I think Sharpe did a very good job of showing her character development. Overall, I think that this is a very good book that is more than just an LGBTQ novel or just a murder mystery. It was easy for me to finish this book very quickly, once I picked it up, I could not set it down. That for me has not happened in a long time, so that goes to show how much I enjoyed this novel.
