In some really dark times in my life, including when I was struggling with my depression and anxiety, the Shadowhunter chronicles are what saved me. I have always loved reading because it lets me focus on the problems of fictional characters rather than my own, and Cassandra Clare’s detailed, beautiful writing drew me in. I immediately became attached to every one of her characters (although my very favorites are and always will be Isabelle Lightwood, Tessa Gray (Herondale), Jem Carstairs, and Will Herondale-those are in no particular order). I find solace and comfort in the fandoms that surround this amazing series, and the people I have met online because of this. I will always hold these books so dear to my heart (and, although this may seem dramatic it is true) because they have given me a will to live. I cannot even describe how much they mean to me, and I am forever indebted to Cassie Clare for writing them.
This book makes me feel 'at home' kind of, and I know it sounds sappy, but i know these characters and revisiting them is like a nice warm feeling
It was actually my best friend who got me into reading these books. She recommended them to me, and I decided to pick it up. I really liked how it was such a well-crafted fantasy world, and when I got into the Infernal Devices I started to love it a whole lot more! We always fangirl over both series and send tons of memes about it back and forth. It was a great experience reading because of that, and soon starting the tv show!
I don’t really think I can say that these books have helped me with really tough times (another series did that) but these books evoke emotions that I don’t usually feel. I think that’s what makes me love them- the fact the Cassie can write such a serious plot but still have little tidbits of joy in them. And they have such great friend groups dynamics, it helps right now since I can’t physically see mine, and they remind me of mine.
I was started to feel depressed and anxious before I read this book, but my ELA teacher showed Clockwork Angel to me. Seeing Will get through all of those negative emotions and surface with the love of his life, his best friend, and his family, made me realize that I could get through my negative emotions too. It's why Will is my favorite character.
wow @cat Carstairs. you're so lucky to have real life friends to Fangirl with. I only have this group and you guys to talk about it. my friends don't read and I'm happy for this community to share my live of shadowhunters.—also, I hated the TV show coz it's changed the whole world Cassie built and even the story
also, the thing I love most about these book is the true and loyal and trustworthy relationships. one that I didn't really see in real life. I read city of bones in 2014 or 2015 I think and just loved the books. the sense of having such close friends, such close relationships, was beautiful ❤️it gave me hope. Hope that I too can have such people in my life one day.
(I hope I made sense coz I'm so bad at explaining)
I discovered TID through booktube, (when I was 10) and we went to a bookstore to get it. The book I wanted was Clockwork Princess. I know, dumb of me. I'd seen readbyzoe talk about it all the time, so I wanted to read it too. The bookstore dude said it was for 13+, so my parents didn't let me read it, but when I started middle school in the library there was this whole Cassandra Clare shelf so I started with Clockwork Angel.(whew) The next year, after I'd mostly forgotten about Shadowhunters and stuff, one of my track friends got me into TMI, so I started that series. Late last year, I read TDA and all the novellas over Christmas break. Never gonna regret this experience, ever. You feel so connected with the characters, and especially feel the heartbreak. Oh, the heartbreak...

I hate the TV show too... and I haven't even watched it. Last year, clips of the episodes started showing up on my recommended on Youtube, and I watched some of them, and Alec's wedding infuriated me. WHO THE HECK IS LYDIA??? I feel like she was the Aline of the TV show, or maybe there was another Aline, idk. Once, I also saw in the cast that there was some guy named Lorenzo. WHO THE HECK IS LORENZO???

seriously! everything changed and it seemed in the TV show shadowhunters had super modern electronic devices (what happened to shadowhunters don't use technology) also it seemed shadowhunters can shape shift (like hell they can!)

Right?! I watched the first episode a couple months ago, and I was so confused... I love the cast, but the story people should have stuck with the books

im super late but I start to read these books when I was 11 so they mean so much for me, it was my escapism for so many moments so yeah I truly love the shadohunters books
These are the books that inspired me to write. I never thought I would enjoy writing until I started writing Shadowhunters fanfiction. Now I aspire to be a writer!I connected with the characters more than anything. Alec stuck out to me most when I first started reading TMI. Like him, I'm a closeted member of the Lgbt+ community and I felt seen in literature when Alec was introduced. Overall, these books have changed my life for the better.
i first read the shadowhunters books when i was 12, actually no! i was 11! i have previously read other books, but i feel like if i haven"t read those books then i wouldn"t be as big of a reader as i am today. now when i am no mood to read, i am in a reading slump or even when i just am in a bad place, i have a really bad day, i pick cassies books and i start to feel better. these books also open some doors for me. they made me a fangirl, this way i started joining different fandoms, joining goodreads and i started talking about books here with other people
how these books impacted me, let's see... they made me get in trouble a lot! xD i wouldn't put them down and my parents and teachers had to constantly tell me to put the books away. (my parents even had to ban me from reading until i started paying attention in class - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!)
When i started city of Bones i didn't really like reading, but the plot seemed very interesting and one of my friends loved it so i decided to try. I loved that and finished TMI in a short time, then i started TID, which really destroyed me, TDA and i seriously got obsessed with this amazing world. Finally I can say that shadowhunters Chronicles changed me because they made me see all the books in a different way and now i can read everything!:)
These books... I'm so happy I started reading them. At first I saw them in the library, but I wasn't sure if I shall read them. IT WAS ONE OF MY BEST DECISIONS that I did.
I copy quotes of the Shadowhunter Series, because they are all so beautiful !!!

Well, when I started reading Shadowhunters I was 12 and at that time I didn’t like reading at all, my father wanted me to read and always asked me the summary of the chapters of books I had to read and so I didn’t feel free to read. But then after watching the film “Shadowhunters-city of bones” I decided to give it a try, I bought the trilogy “city of bones, ashes and glass” and the just fell in love with them, I loved the characters and the plot. Thanks to Cassandra and her beautiful world I started enjoying reading and now no one can stop me, I read more or less a book or two a month.
I have always loved fantasy stuff and horror stuff so when i heard about this books having these both i tried them out at first my teacher give me first book of mortal instrument series and i fell inlove and I had to search if there was more to the series and when i notice theres whole collection of stories and series along with it. I was thrilled and for once in my life i thought i enjoy reading and finishing a book series since i dont usually read series only singlets books and be done and done but since then i loved series books especially Cassandra Clares books.
