Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments If there is ever a book that deserves to be discussed in a group centering around female authorship, it is Maxine Hong Kingston's The Woman Warrior.

Sue | 155 comments I have this book sitting on my shelf waiting for an undertaking like this, Traveller.

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Oh Sue, that's good to hear! How does your March and April schedule look like so far? Or should I aim for later in the year?

message 4: by Kris (new)

Kris (krisrabberman) I'd love to revisit this -- it's been ages since I read it.

message 5: by Sue (new)

Sue | 155 comments April is looking like it may be busy. Perhaps March or May?

message 6: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Oh, goodie. If Kris reads this with us, we're sure to get more takers for it.

Would July/August be too late in the year?

message 7: by Kris (new)

Kris (krisrabberman) Sounds ideal for me, actually.

message 8: by Sue (new)

Sue | 155 comments That will probably be good for me too.

message 9: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments I have added it to the August group schedule. Hope that meets with your approval. :)

message 10: by Sue (new)

Sue | 155 comments Sounds good. I'm planning to read Yourcenar's Memoir of Hadrian starting 8/15, so this schedule should work.

message 11: by Traveller (last edited Dec 26, 2014 03:08AM) (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments I am also doing the MOH read, Sue, so we can always work with that. How would you and Kris feel if we started, let's say in mid-July to make space for Hadrian? IIRC, Woman Warrior is not a thick book, so 3 weeks should be quite adequate, unless you'd like more time? If so, a mid-July start should still be perfect.

message 12: by Kris (new)

Kris (krisrabberman) Mid-July is perfect for me, Trav.

message 13: by Yolande (new)

Yolande (sirus) I have The Woman Warrior and will join in here.

message 14: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Oh, glad to hear! ^_^

message 15: by Sue (new)

Sue | 155 comments Sorry I didn't answer sooner, Traveller. The schedule sounds great.

message 16: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments That's fine. :) Added!

message 17: by Connie (new)

Connie G (connie_g) | 147 comments I would be interested in reading The Woman Warrior in July too.

message 18: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Oh good! The more, the merrier. IIRC, this was quite an unusual novel.

message 19: by Traveller (last edited Jan 12, 2015 02:43AM) (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Regarding The Woman Warrior, would there be any objections if we moved the actual discussion on to August? I'm really sorry, but my June /July has become unmanageably full...

Yolande (sirus) Traveller wrote: "Regarding The Woman Warrior, would there be any objections if we moved the actual discussion on to August? I'm really sorry, but my June /July has become unmanageably full..."

Yes please. That would be better for me as well.

message 21: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Oh good! Since we originally DID have it in August but made it earlier for Memoirs of Hadrian, I'll put it back in August then. Will just have to scrunch it in with Hadrian...

message 22: by Traveller (new)

Traveller (moontravlr) | 736 comments Argh, I simply don't have much free time at the moment. Is there anybody who still wants to read this now, or can I move this book on to the end of the year or to next year?

message 23: by Yolande (new)

Yolande (sirus) I am sitting in the same position as you Traveller, so moving it would be better for me. It depends on what the others will reply.

message 24: by Connie (last edited Jul 10, 2015 07:53AM) (new)

Connie G (connie_g) | 147 comments I can read it either now or later, although I would prefer moving it to later in the year.

message 25: by Sue (new)

Sue | 155 comments I'm also in the same position--really overloaded. Moving this would be fine for me.

message 26: by Zanna (new)

Zanna (zannastar) | 337 comments I've already read it in confusion, so will try to join in whenever
