Hi everyone! I actually tend to avoid book clubs on goodreads just because I often found myself not being able to keep up with all the upcoming reads but I'll try to change that for this one although I might not always be able to do so. Wonderful idea and thanks for the invitation! <3 xx linda

Hi there! This is completly new for me and I can't wait to start the book of the month. Hopefully I'll be able to finished it at the end of May. You had a fantastic idea creating this book club, it is so you. Xx
Hi everyone! I‘m so excited to discover more diverse books and read about characters whose stories deserve to be told. And thanks for the invitation Sunny, I can’t wait to start reading the book chosen for june! All the love!! 🤍
I guess I should say hi too! I’ve never been a part of a bookclub, but heard about this one on Twitter and immediately joined. I’m currently reading the May book and I’m already excited to meet all the characters from the stories we’re yet to read!
Hello! I am excited to be here. I'm trying to further diversify my reading. While I consider myself fairly well read as far as international fiction is concerned, I have a long way to go. I am also a disabled author, with a debut fantasy novel out that features a physically disabled protagonist, so diverse literature is near and dear to my heart. Can't wait to dive in!
Hi everyone!I have been diversifying my reading more actively since last year, and am not really participating in any book clubs yet! This one sounds very exciting, and I have read Little Fire Everywhere, so can already participate to the discussion this month! So exciting :D

Do you want to read more diverse books ? And do you want to join a fun online community where we’ll discuss our reads ? Welcome to the Well-Read Society ! The concept of this bookclub is simple.
- All books will be written by authors from groups perceived as “minorities” in our society, or depict characters who are seen as different. For example women, POC, LGBTQ+ people, muslim communities, disabled people, fat people, etc.
- Each month, the hosts will pick a theme and submit two (or more) book options that fit within that theme. The book club members will choose which one will be our book of the month through a poll.
As we all read our book of the month, the hosts will ask questions to lead the discussions and each and every member of the Society will be free to share their point of view, opinions, reviews and debate (respectfully of course !)
- At the end of the month, we’ll have a livestream on Instagram where the hosts will share our own opinions, recap highlights and interesting points of the discussion and hopefully in the future we’ll also be able to chat either with the authors or guests
- Plus we’ll host a giveaway every month, where a special someone will get a chance to win the book of the month . Discussions on the books we read + fun games and challenges will be here on Goodreads, and our instagram account! (@wellreadsociety ). Polls to decide what we will read next will be on our Goodreads page!
PS : While we will read diverse books, the bookclub is open to everyone who does or doesn’t fit within those communities because we aim not only for the marginalised ones to feel represented and celebrated but also for those who are not to understand us. Also, while we strongly encourage you to support the authors and independent bookstores, you are free to get the books wherever you like from whichever format (ebook, audiobook, paperback, borrowed from the library, etc) because we want to be as inclusive and considerate of people's situations as possible.
We hope you join us! (click HERE to join)
