Male author, may have been part of a series. Scenes I remember:
- Postal worker discovers clues to other dimension hidden in letters arriving in "dead-letter" dept in little town in midwest; at party to unveil all this, he places his hands into a wall and begins to warp reality, party-goers are frantic/go mad;
- A "bubble" of time is suspended at the Trinity a-bomb site, moments before the bomb is to go off; some murders have been committed, the bodies placed in this "bubble" to erase the evidence; I think the protagonists discover the bodies might be theirs (murdered in the future), clock is ticking for this mystery to be solved before it's too late;
- Vision of two (?) beings from other dimension, intent on invading our dimension to devour it; huge, horrendous, bodies composed of millions of other beings constantly being expelled and re-subsumed, "they seek singularity" or some such (meaning, as I recall, they crave state of becoming indivisible -- not the physics/math definition of "singularity").
Has been on the "tip of my tongue" for years -- can't remember, for the life of me.
