tda is my favorite out of the three. tid close really close to it, but tda is still my favorite (tlh might beat tda when the series is complete, but who knows?)
TID is the best hands down for me. That series has left a permanent mark in my soul. But once TLH is done, I think it will be my fav because I loved Chain Of Gold so much💗
I would recommend in order of when they happen. So start with TID (The Infernal Devices), which consists Of Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess. Then TLH(The Last Hours) which has one book out- Chain Of Gold. Then TMI (The mortal instruments) which is City Of bones, city of ashes, city of Glass, city of fallen angels, city of lost souls, and city of heavenly fire. Then Last is TDA (The Dark Artifices) which is Lady Midnight , Lord Of Shadows, and Queen Of Air and Darkness. Last will be TWP, the Wicked Powers, with has no confirmed release date. All the short stories I believe can be read whenever.
You could do also release order so the first 3 TMI books, then alternate between the first in TID and the rest of TMI (so CA, COFA, CPrince, COLS, COHF and CPrincess) after that is TDA which had no interruptions, and then Chain Of Gold.
but there are also the bind up books with novellas (ghosts of the shadow market, tales from the shadowhunter academy, the bane chronicles) and also the eldest curses series which you didn't mention. and some of these books are really important, like it's better if you read tales of the shadowhunter academy before tda and cog since there are some stories in that book that are connected to those. but i don't think i made a good job explaining, but there's this girl of youtube name emmmabooks, who has a video for the order in which to read cassandra clare's books :)
Yeah true, but I never read them and understand everything fine. I feel like the eldest curses are for ppl who rlly like Malec specifically. But I guess if it want to read them, do Shadowhunter academy after tmi since there’s spoilers.
also in ghosts of the shadow market you learn things like what matthew did, the reason he is like that in cog and you also learn about what happened between anna and ariadne (the matthew story is cast long shadows and anna's is every exquisite thing, if you don't want to read the whole book at least read those two, they are really good)
TID hands down, but I have a strong emotional attatchment to the characters to be honest. Then TLH and probably TDA afterwards (I’m trading LoS right now). TMI is by far the weakest series, even though CoHF is pretty good.
Probably: TID, TMI, TDA :)Reasons:
1. The Infernal Devices - a well, written incredibly emotional, and sweet series; loved it.
2. The Mortal Instruments - has some truly golden moments and a special place in my heart through its writing is somewhat lacking in early books.
3. The Dark Artifices - an amazing series with a lot of passion, and way too many battles, but sadly just can't rank it over the other two right now.
I could not get through City of Bones. I just couldn't.
I’m reading clockwork prince and I hear that clockwork princess is the best book of the trilogy and I’m excited to read it, I haven’t read TDA yet and I only read the first 4 books of TMI because I found out that I have to read TID first
In my opinion the dark artifices is the best trilogy of the shadowhunter chronicles. TID is pretty good too ! Especially the last book
Right now my favorite order is TID, TLH, TID, TMI, and TEC
I liked them all but these are my favorites. I think the wicked powers will probably beat TID.
Awe why is that? (Just curious, no judgement) The reason I think I’d like that is because I find kits powers super interesting. I think there’s a lot more too him. Plus we will see what Zara is planning to do, and we get more Tessa/Jem; clary/Jace; and Emma/Julian 💛.
I think with all those characters and all the possibilities is the reason I think it’ll be my favorite.
That and Cassandra Clare seems to get better with every book she writes. I don’t doubt she’d go out with a bang (since this is the last shadow hunter trilogy).
for sure it'll go out with me crying, I know thatI don't like Kit just because I feel he was making lots of decisions based on the wrong decisions. I mean, he wouldn't tell Kit raising livvy was bad bc he couldn't hurt his feelings... idk it just didn't vibe with me
and i just found ty annoying and felt he was way younger than 15 if u compare him to Cecily
but i bet i will like them more in TWP so i don't think I'll dislike them for long.
When do u think the first TWP book will come out?
yeah, but it hasn't been updated since qoaad. and cog was originally coming out in november 2019 but it came in march 2020 and all the tlh books have been pushed back so technically that means twp will most likely be pushed back too
maybe. it's possible. for now, 2022 has for sure Chain of Thorns coming out. Maybe the sequel to Sword Catcher. so I think she could publish it in 2022 if she wanted to. that being said, she hasn't sold it yet
I love this series but I have to say that The Infernal Devices is my favorite trilogy and Magnus Bane is my favorite character
I’m kinda curious about the sword catch I feel like I’ve been apart of the shadowhunter chronicles for a long time! It’s going to be odd reading something different from Cassie.
Yes, but I still can’t wait and think it’ll be amazing! I’m curious how the cove will look though since all of Cassie’s book have the same metallic type covers and same title font
