The Selection May 2020 Discussion
My least favorite part of the book is Aspen
my favorite part of the book is the food lol...the strawberry tarts challenge
I already started listening to the audiobook yesterday and at first I wasn't so sure about the narrator's voice but now I can't stop listening! I'm already on chapter 10 :)
have to admit, there was something I liked about Celeste...she's pretty awful but I'm kind of a sucker for ruthless female characters
Okay I am getting a little annoyed by America, but only in the part where she goes to the gardens and talks to Maxon like that. I forgot how sweet Maxon was.
Haven't read this in a while! I remember though distinctly I never shipped America and Aspen, Maxon all the wayyyyyy.

I mean, I hated her in the first book but she definitely gets better, by the end of the series I couldn't help but fall in love with her
yesssss The Selection is going on Netflix!!! That casting BETTER be good or I will be so mad
Omg really!? First Six of Crows and the Shadow and Bone trilogy now this, Netflix here is making all of our bookish dreams come true!
Yay! Really hope they make it good.Talking about the book I personally loved it. I didn't really like Aspen but Maxon was a gentleman. Totally agree when you say he increased my expectations for men!
Wait they're making a movie????? Imma have to get Netflix now. Although gotta say that as someone who doesn't actually have Netflix, I get the impression that Netflix movies are really a hit or miss type thing and if it's a miss we're going to have a percy-jackson-movie sized riot on our hands
I really hope they cast it well tbh! But they'll probably will. I wish Netflix would take care of the Percy Jackson adaptations as well.
i just started this yesterday, i’m currently on chapter 4. i feel like i’m the only person here reading it for the first time lol.
i already read the first two books in January so I have a decent memory of what happened

Ani wrote: "Omg I'm so in love with Maxon. I forgot how sweet and gentleman he was."Same, he's such a sweetheart
I love both of them because Aspen really improves as a character throughout the series but I'm definitely Team Maxon.
Ani wrote: "I mean I just can't believe some people are team Aspen. He's not even half the man Maxon is!"Thank you!
Hahaha I do like how things turn out for Aspen, but Maxon is, and forever will be, the right choice.
Team Maxon all the way but Aspen is a great friend to America by the end
Yeah even at the beginning of the first book their relationship read as "best friends/brother sister" rather than "lovers"
I read this book a while back, so I'm not reading it at the moment. I have to agree with most comments here, Aspen is definitely more of a friend.
Yup, Aspen had a great ending to his story. I also liked how things turned out for Marlee in the end.
Well (view spoiler) Maxon is perfection, he just keeps getting better with each book. Every time America does something stupid, he handles it so well. (I do love America, she's just very impulsive) In "The One" (view spoiler)
Omg that was one of my fave parts as well. I just think they do make a beautiful couple even though America's indecision frustrates me so much. I have to ask you guys, do you think It's necessary that I read the last 2 books about their daughter? because I don't like the her, but I want to know more about America and Maxon and how their story ends...
I actually didn't like Amberly's short story. I understand why she acted the way she acted and I admire her for going through all that but...also I hated her blind love for Clarkson and how she let him treat her. Like she was nothing more than a slave or furniture.
I personally enjoyed reading books 4 and 5. I did understand why other people don't like Eadlyn, but I liked the series. It was a nice addition to see what happened to Maxon and America after the main trilogy. Eadlyn does develop as a character through the books, and unlike other people, I was constantly wondering who she'd pick because I legitimately had no idea. If you really just want more content about the main series without following a new plot line, I'd suggest reading/purchasing Happily Ever After. It has all 4 novellas from the series, a bonus epilogue to The One, and it has "what happened after" stories for some of the other girls. And, there's some really beautiful sketches of the characters before each novella.
I agree with the blind love thing completely. I read the last two books as well as the happily ever after book and I think it bases more on other countries in the future as well as the economic future of their country(can’t think of the name rn) I also can’t wait for Kiera Cass’ new series The Betrothed

I'm so excited! "The Betrothed" is out!!!!
