Ok some of you may see Souless and think ohhh it's a chick book. Maybe but it's awesome steampunk meets vamps/werewolves. The romance is kept at a minimum however there is a lot of talk about clothes but you get past it for the well written characters. Give it a try. Gail Carriger

Love this book. And the subsequent four that follow. Alexia is so entertaining in her no-nonsense way. I don't care for the chick books, but this is not exactly your typical chick book. The heroine is a chick, but, she's quite clever, not prone to sentiment, and can kick a behind as needed.

I think the Dark Hunter Series by Sherilynn Kenyon is perfect for this topic but it's an adult series.
