LOL! I may cause myself bodily harm by pulling my hair out by the roots for making the challenge too easy. But, I'm only giving out badges for the first 5 levels and then wrap-up badges at the end of the year. So, if people want to get all their badges in the first 5 days of the year, they'll have a long wait for the wrap up badges. Hehehehehe!
I'm glad you like my intro, and I can only believe that you are, or will be, in the same boat!I can only hope that I find the means, motive, and opportunity to commit my deadly crimes.
I might not have to slay Janice, she'll probably off herself before I get to it. That's my defense and I'm sticking to it. LOL
I changed my title when I realized it was same as Lori Z's. Still similar - I can't seem to let go of the Buffy theme - but I thought I should at least word it differently.
There probably are graphic novels, but there are a lot of novels, some based on episodes and some different.
I'm only on H and I have over 60 series to be continued. I can only hope that I've finished some of these and don't know it!
80 points on Level one so far. I need to look for a three book series from my possibilities. Maybe tonight.
I was looking at a few of these folders to get some ideas :-) I think I'm only going to start with five series.I am assuming I can add as I go along :-)Will I get some kind of under achiever award if I only finished five ;-)
Not at all. Maybe the glue stick :~D That's an award for the lowest amount of points in the monthly challenge. It has become very popular. You'll see what I mean in the monthly challenge chatting.Even completing one level means you've completed this challenge if you don't want to do more. That's the fun of the yearly ones. You can go as crazy as you want :)
I won't finish most of the series, I'm listing a bunch as possibilities. I have anywhere from 2 to 21 books to read in these. I want to add how many I have left so I can choose my next book with some organization, instead of my usual fly by the seat of my pants method.
Thank you :-) I think I have more series, probably trilogies I want to read then I think, but I am definitely a fly by the seat of my pants kind of girl ;-)
I have way too many series on the go that some will never get finished. There's no gluestick badge for the year long. You either finish one or more levels, or you don't. There may be participation badges for those who don't. I wanted to give out participation badges for last year's challenge but nobody claimed them in the year end stats wrap up.
Whoops, I wrote my last post at work and was a little distracted, and left a sentence out. I hope I didn't mislead Berit about the glue stick.
I think I've got it monthly challenge glue stick, yearly challenge no glue stick :-) I haven't figured out yet if a glue stick is a good thing or a bad thing ;-)I think it's going to take me a good year to figure out all your little inside jokes :-) that's why I intend to stick around!!!

You might want to review Glossing The Glossary for a preview of some of our phrases. Glue Stick is there.☺
Janice wrote: "You need to add Slick to the glossary, Almeta. Please and thanks."I'll be glad to add Slick.
I know Slick has been around a long time! In fact he was part of the "Rainbow Challenge" wasn't he?
Berit wrote: "I think I've got it monthly challenge glue stick, yearly challenge no glue stick :-) I haven't figured out yet if a glue stick is a good thing or a bad thing ;-)I think it's going to take me a good..."The glue stick has become a coveted badge for some of us. The goal of the monthly challenge is to read a book fitting the theme, with points for fun. The main thing is to enjoy the book, and maybe discover something you wouldn't have read otherwise. Some people (usually the more organized ones, so that lets out you and I) search for a book that will maximize points. It got to be a joke how few points some of the books were getting. In a chat somewhere Rusalka told of a guy whose horse had lost a race and the joking that he would become a glue stick. It was suggested that the "loser" of the monthly challenge get a glue stick, and it became very popular. Just another example of how serious we are :>
Janice wrote: "You need to add Slick to the glossary, Almeta. Please and thanks."And maybe add how coveted the glue stick badge is :)
Perfect, Almeta! Are we able to import those ticker tapes again? They were so much fun. And I love that you linked to the thread where Slick was born. I had lots of giggles rereading the comments.
jaxnsmom wrote: "Berit wrote: "I think I've got it monthly challenge glue stick, yearly challenge no glue stick :-) I haven't figured out yet if a glue stick is a good thing or a bad thing ;-)I think it's going to ..."Indeed. One step back from a wooden spoon, turned into glue ;)
Janice wrote: "Perfect, Almeta! Are we able to import those ticker tapes again? They were so much fun. And I love that you linked to the thread where Slick was born. I had lots of giggles rereading the comments."No the tickers will no longer work. I really miss them.
Oh, I had forgotten the ticker tapes. They were so fun to play with! Wait - I got this to work. Is there a problem later, with updating them?
jaxnsmom wrote: "Oh, I had forgotten the ticker tapes. They were so fun to play with! Wait - I got this to work. Is there a problem later, with updating them?"
That's correct, they no longer update.
Once they are copied into a message, Goodreads "hosts" them as a photograph.
The coding does not come along with it from your previously hosted site, and Goodreads does not communicate with that site to extract updates.
What if you copy the coding from Ticker Tape each time after updating? I wonder if it would work then. Test it out for us, j'mom!
Janice wrote: "What if you copy the coding from Ticker Tape each time after updating? I wonder if it would work then. Test it out for us, j'mom!"I've tried that. Doesn't work. The only way to do it is to create a new ticker each time. This gives the graphic a new name and address. So in the end you would have (in your example) approximately 50 versions of the ticker.
For count down time tickers, this is totally impractical...time will not tick down by the minute/hour/day. That's a lot of manual adjusting on your part.
For the "how many objects/books" left to go toward a goal, you may as well create your own graphic on your computer and move a "pointer" yourself as you near your goal. Upload it to a host, then download it to your Goodreads comment thread.
I tried all of this when we lost the ability. I sooooo loved my tickers! ☻
Well, I finally finished Level One! Yep, there are 50 extra points, but I kept listening to other books while slowly finishing the last book in a trilogy :) I don't really mind, that's one more book down for those series :)
Updated post 2 - Finished Level Two!A Lack of Temperance was so-so, but I loved Looking for Yesterday - an excellent mystery series.

This is scary! I have so many cozy mystery series where I've only read the first book that I could continue this challenge for years. Then there are the scifi and fantasy series. Some I've finished or am waiting for the next one (hear that, Patrick Rothfuss ), but there are others I want to start or started in the Chunkster challenge. And of course there are other genres saying "Don't forget about us". As the year goes on, I may consider slaying Janice, but I'm really to blame for the mess I'm in. ☺
