Amar entered the gym, hoping it would be empty. He promised his family he would still work out, but he never said how often. His wings were tucked into his jacket as normal as he walked to a treadmill, and frown on his face. “It’s nothing like home,” he grumbled, booting up the machine.
Viyana walked in with Chyra by her side. She saw someone else there, but he didn't look like he wanted to talk, so she just waved and got onto an elliptical. She turned on the treadmill next to her for Chyra to walk on.
She laughed at her panther, who was almost too long for the machine, but padded along next to her.

Amar nodded to the other person and started running on the treadmill. His wings were rustling against the inside of his jacket uncomfortably. He could only take so much until he stopped the machine and awkwardly took off his jacket, resting it next to his water bottle on the ground. His white wings immediately sprung out then folded back up.
Viyana blinked at his wings, but didn't say anything. She found it hard to trust people, so she wasn't very comfortable meeting someone new. She just kept going on the elliptical. Chyra made a small noise, which Viyana understood. She paused for a moment and reached over to turn up Chyra's treadmill.
Amar, embarrassed by his wings, started the treadmill back up, turning the speed higher. He ran in silence, his eyes trained on nothing.
After a while, and after Amar had been breathing heavily, he slowed the machine and turned it off. He picked up his water bottle and drank from it, tired from running. He’d have to find a better place to run; it was too boring and monochromatic in the gym. He picked up his things after cooling off and left the gym, nodding bye to the other person.
Viyana finished on the elliptical and did some weights work, then got bored. "That's probably good for now," she told Chyra, who had been easily prowling along on the treadmill the whole time. "Let's go." Chyra pawed at the treadmill controls for a moment. "No, Chyra, let me do it. Don't scratch that or we might get in trouble." Viyana turned off the treadmill and left with her panther.
