Oh God. Her gaze swept over the mound of dirty utensils on the kitchen counter. What—she stiffened, her gaze halting on an upturned tin of tomato sauce. A blob of red paste fell out of the tin and splattered on the floor, right next to the red spot which had stopped her on her tracks a few moments ago. She let out a shuddering breath. At least her kitchen floor wasn't stained by blood as she'd feared. Still. She frowned. The kitchen had been spotless when she'd left the house. What in the world had happened here?
"Hello sweetheart."
"Honey?" Sophie squeaked, one hand clutching her pounding heart, the other still gripping the knife she'd grabbed as she stared at her dishevelled husband clad in a stained—apron? She blinked. Since when did he own an apron? "Um, what are you doing home so early?"
Her husband warily eyed the knife in her hand. "I thought I'd make you dinner."

It was almost an hour later when they entered the dining room.
"Thank you again for the dinner." Sophie smiled at her husband as they took their places. "I'm sorry I wasn't more enthusiastic before."
"No worries." He smiled back, pouring her a drink. "I'm just happy you didn't kill me for messing up the kitchen."
She laughed. "Never. I couldn't live without you—oh!" Her eyes widened as her husband lifted the lid off the tureen. "Is that tomato soup?"
"Yup." He ladled the soup into her bowl. "I made it especially for you."
"Thank you." She picked up her spoon. "It's my favourite."
"I know." Her husband squeezed her left hand and smiled into her eyes. "That's why I made it."
She scooped the soup and sipped it. "Yum. It's del—" Her throat tightened. She clutched her neck, gasping. Her spoon clattered to the floor. "I can't bre—" She coughed.
"I know." Her husband lifted her chin and continued smiling at her. "That's why I poisoned it."
Her eyes rounded. "Wha—" She wheezed, tremors shaking her.
He let go of her chin and shrugged. "I couldn't live WITH you."
Her vision went black and she slumped into her chair.

Whistling, George grabbed the suitcase containing his various disguises and fake ID's from the ground floor bathroom and strolled out of the house. It was time to find another wife to kill.

Amazing how Ramla was steering the story to a normal situation and Maira to a dangerous!! Worked out perfectly!
Lol. Thank you, Kalsum. Guess that's what's so fun about this activity. You never know what turn the story will take. It forces you to use your imagination in order to figure out the next step. You can't change the preceding scenario, so you have to be really creative about it. And you're right. I prefer lighter stories, so my natural inclination was to steer it in that direction, but in the end, I had to let the story and the characters steer me!
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. Please feel free to add something to the story if you like or continue any of the other stories. Thanks again :-)
